Star Citizen "Squadron 42" will have to wait another year or two

The last time we heard about Star Citizen's single-player story game Squadron 42, it was aimed at beta B in the third quarter of 2020. Many things have changed since then, but the game still hasn't shown up, and developer Cloud Imperium says the game will take more time to develop.

In the most recent episode of "MCV/Develop," CIG's CHIEF Operating Officer Carl Jones revealed how the company is evolving and when fans will be able to play Squadron 42. In his words, it's all because Chris Roberts is busy relocating his new studio in Manchester while also expanding the team size to work faster.

Carl Jones explains, "Yeah, maybe another year or two. He (Chris Roberts) will spend more time with the 42 Squadron team and our other developers, but this year he will be here longer. Hopefully that means we can finish Squadron 42 faster. We want the game to be done, but it will be completed when it is ready. ”

In 2020, Chris Roberts again announced the 42 Squadron postponement, saying he was "unwilling to compromise on a game he believes in wholeheartedly." He also refused to show new shots of the game to the public, or to discuss any possible release dates before the story approached its final stages.
