Sky Sports: Newcastle triggers a 25M termination clause and Burnley striker Wood is undergoing a medical examination

Sky Sports reports on Jan. 12 that Burnley striker Chris Wood is currently undergoing his first part of a medical exam at Newcastle.

Chris Wood's relegation for the Magpies is crucial and it will be even more beneficial for Newcastle if he can establish a connection with Trippier on the court. Newcastle are hoping to complete the £25m deal later today.

Burnley had no choice but to accept Newcastle's offer for Wood because £25m met the player's termination clause.

New Zealand striker Wood, 30, has made 21 appearances for Burnley this season, contributing three goals and his current contract expires in 2023. Both Newcastle and Burnley currently have 11 points in the same relegation zone.
