According to sources, Sony has notified assembly companies at the end of 2021 that it will continue to produce PS4 this year, with an output of about 1 million units this year to make up for the shortage of PS5 supply. According to a number of people with connections, Sony originally planned to end PS4 production by the end of last year.
As of the end of September 2021, the cumulative sales volume of PS4 exceeded 116 million units worldwide.
Yahoo Finance's offer shows that as of 13:45 on the 12th, Sony shares rose 1.04% to 14,555 yen.
Foreign media recently reported that due to the shortage of chips, the risk of normalization of production and logistics restrictions in the future has increased, so Sony will cut the PS5 production target this year (April 2021 to March 2022) from more than 16 million units to about 15 million units.
