Golden Mandarin – Fruit knowledge

The ancient name of golden orange is Lu tangerine, mountain orange, the skin color is yellow as gold, so it is called kumquat, which is native to China. According to ancient records, there is a history of cultivation for more than 2,000 years, and Song Hanyan has described it in detail in the "Tangerine Record".

Golden mandarin is an evergreen shrub or small tree of the family Rubiaceae, more hardy, drought-tolerant, disease-resistant, adaptable, small and thick leaves, lanceolate or long ovate, flowering period with different local climates and successive, generally in June to August white flowers three or four times; fruit ripening in early to mid-November.

Origin and variety. Golden mandarin oranges are produced in Zhejiang, Guangxi, Jiangxi, Hunan and other provinces and regions, and are also cultivated in small quantities in Suzhou, Guangdong, Fujian and Sichuan. It is mainly produced in Rong'an and Yangshuo in Guangxi, Zhenhai, Ningbo, Wenzhou and Huangyan in Zhejiang, Suichuan, Linchuan and Nanfeng in Jiangxi, and Liuyang and Lanshan in Hunan.

In fruit tree cultivation, there are four species of golden jujube, round golden mandarin, long-leaved golden mandarin, and mountain golden mandarin, and two hybrids of golden bullet and longevity golden mandarin. The long-leaved golden mandarin orange has low economic value and is rarely cultivated, and the mountain golden mandarin and long-lived golden mandarin are mostly used as potted ornamental. As edible commodities, there are three kinds of dates, golden bullets and round golden oranges, which are characterized by the following characteristics.

1. Golden Bullet.

Golden orange: broad oval, 7 to 11 grams, mid-to-late November;

Golden egg: broadly ovate or short conical, 13 to 17 grams, early to mid-December;

Gold Bullet: Oblong, 20 to 30 grams, late November.

2. Round golden orange.

Rib: Fruit spherical, about 10 grams, mid-to-late November.

3. Golden jujube (milk, goat milk two strains).

Rover: Oblong or inverted ovate. (Tipping, small fruit for goat milk strains) 10 to 15 grams, picked three times from early November to early December.

Specifications and inspections. Kumquat quality, fresh food to gold bullets the best, Guangxi Rong'an and Jiangxi Suichuan products, fruit shape is huge (25 to 40 per kilogram), the skin and flesh is soft and not tough, the juice is rich and less, sweet and sour, the food is fragrant, aerated and appetizing, the quality of the crown group; followed by ribbing, thin skin is more sour; again for the golden jujube, small acid, not suitable for fresh food, only candied embryos.

Test the golden orange. First of all, we must distinguish the varieties, because the quality of the golden orange varies greatly with different varieties. Among them, the appearance of the golden bullet and the round golden orange is similar, which is easy to confuse. In the same variety, it is the top product with larger particles, full fruit shape, golden skin color, fresh and waxy texture, sweet and sour, and strong aroma. Where the skin color has turned yellow, gently pinched by hand, feel the body bones are solid, elastic is fresh quality.

Guangxi kumquat specifications: fresh, golden color, smooth skin, fruit-shaped bird egg-shaped, uniform size, sweet and fragrant, no injury, no cracks, no insect moths, no sediment.

First-class: within 35 per pound, no secondary fruit;

Grade II: 36 to 44 per pound, and the secondary fruit does not exceed 10%;

Grade III: 45 to 54 per pound, and the secondary fruit does not exceed 15%;

Grade 4: 55 to 65 per pound, and the secondary fruit does not exceed 20%.

Shipping & Sales. Kumquat is not a bulk commodity in the citrus category, and generally does not have a large amount of transportation, and can be shipped from rail transportation to carpool with citrus. For example, if Shenyang buys kumquats from Zhenhai, it is first transported by passenger liner to Shanghai, and then it is directly transported to Shenyang with the oranges transited by Taizhou to Shanghai, which is fast and saves freight. Cars can be installed in the adjacent areas of the place of origin, and strive for fast transportation and on-the-go sales. Orange fresh food, all eat meat and peel, only the peel of the golden mandarin, fragrant and sweet, even the skin to eat, for the fruit is rare, the flavor is timeless! When selling separately, we should pay attention to the cleaning of the fruit noodles and do a good job of food hygiene.

1. Kumquat should not be eaten with radish;

2. Kumquat and milk should not be eaten together;

3. Do not eat kumquat before meals or on an empty stomach;

4. The elderly should eat less;

5. Some children eat more kumquat on fire.
