Southampton officially announced that the team has renewed a short contract with 40-year-old goalkeeper Caballero until the end of the season.

With both McCarthy and Fraser Foster injured, Southampton signed free agent Caballero last month. The former Manchester City and Chelsea goalkeeper represented Southampton in Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

Southampton have decided to renew a new contract for the season with Caballero, the 40-year-old goalkeeper, who has made five appearances for the Argentine national team.

Speaking to the Saints' official website, Caballero said: "I've enjoyed my time here and I'm excited to continue playing here for the rest of the season.
