Top 10 language errors of 2021
The "six" of "Liu'an" is pronounced lù, and many of us will misread it as liù. "六" is a polysyllabic word that is pronounced liù when used as a number, but in place names such as Lu'an City in Anhui Province and Liuhe in Jiangsu Province, "six" is pronounced lù.
In recent years, because of the new crown epidemic, we often hear about the spread of the epidemic, but many media have mistaken the "spread" of the epidemic for the epidemic "Manyan". The two are actually different, Manyan describes a static object, such as "Mountains Manyan"; while the spread describes a dynamically changing object, so the virus spreads, the word "spread" should be used.
