The State Administration for Market Regulation has just released the fourth batch of typical cases of "joint doubles action", of which 6 major cases of illegal trade in wild animals have been publicly exposed.

Cases of illegal wildlife trade:

1. The Market Supervision Bureau of Shawan District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, investigated and dealt with cases of illegal trade in wildlife products

On February 1, 2020, during a law enforcement inspection, the Shawan District Market Supervision Bureau in Leshan City, Sichuan Province, found that He Ji Roasted Suckling Pig Shop at No. 43 Futian Road, Shawan District, was suspected of illegally trading wildlife products. At the scene, 27 suspected dove smoked frozen products were seized, and the parties concerned could not explain the source of the purchase, and could not provide animal inspection and quarantine certificates. After investigation, in January 2020, the parties personally purchased 27 dove smoked products as barbecue ingredients in the hands of Binhe Road in Shawan District. According to the Municipal Forestry and Garden Bureau, the above-mentioned smoked frozen products are "three haves" protected wild animal doves. The Shawan District Market Supervision Bureau confiscated the wildlife products involved in the case and imposed a fine in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Law and other relevant provisions.

2. The Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau of Xishui County, Zunyi City, Guizhou Province, investigated and dealt with cases of illegal trade in wildlife products

On February 2, 2020, the Taolin Branch of the Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau of Xishui County, Zunyi City, Guizhou Province, received a clue from the Taolin Police Station of the Xishui County Public Security Bureau, saying that in the process of handling the case, it was found that villagers in Longfeng Village stored photos and videos of wild animals on behalf of a mobile phone, and were suspected of illegally trading wildlife products. The Market Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Brigade of the Xishui County Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau immediately went to the residence of the parties concerned to conduct a law enforcement investigation. After investigation, on October 29, 2019, Dai Mou drove from Yelang Town, Tongzi County, on his way home, to buy a porcupine (belonging to a wild animal under national key protection), and used the porcupine to make ten kilograms of medicinal liquor for sale in the WeChat group. Dai X cannot provide proof of the legal source related to the porcupine. The Xishui County Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau confiscated the wildlife products involved in the case and imposed a fine in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Law and other relevant provisions.

3. The Market Supervision Bureau of Wuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, investigated and dealt with cases of suspected illegal trade in wild animals

On February 2, 2020, the Wuzhou Municipal Market Supervision Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, together with the Wuzhou Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources, the Municipal Forestry Bureau, and the Municipal Rural Agriculture Bureau, launched a joint law enforcement campaign to investigate and crack down on the illegal acquisition, sale, processing, and utilization of terrestrial wild animals, and conducted law enforcement inspections of farmers' markets and hotels in Wuzhou City, and found that Wuzhou Ligang Shunda Seafood Co., Ltd. was suspected of illegally trading wild animals. At the scene, 8 baby fish of 25 kilograms, 3 kilograms of snakes and 1 turtle were seized. The joint investigation team of the Wuzhou Municipal Market Supervision Bureau conducted a case filing and investigation in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Law and other relevant provisions. At present, the case is under investigation.

4. The Market Supervision Bureau of Nanfang County, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, investigated and dealt with cases of illegal trade in wildlife products

On February 4, 2020, the Market Supervision Bureau of Nanfang County, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, based on reports from the public, conducted a law enforcement inspection of the fresh meat products business store located at the Binjiang Office of Nanfang County, No. 18 Wangjiaya, Nanfang County, and found that the store was suspected of illegally trading wildlife products. At the scene, 10 pheasants, 1.5 badger meat products (half of which have been eaten by themselves) and 4 civet meat products were seized, and the parties concerned could not provide purchase receipts and animal quarantine certificates. According to the identification of the Natural Resources Planning and Protection Bureau of the Southern County, the three animals are all "three haves" protected wild animals. The Nanfang County Market Supervision Bureau confiscated the wildlife products involved in the case and imposed a fine in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Law and other relevant provisions.

5. The Market Management Bureau of Renshou County, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, investigated and dealt with cases of illegal trade in wildlife products

On February 13, 2020, the Market Supervision Bureau of Meishan City and the Market Supervision Bureau of Renshou County in Sichuan Province conducted a law enforcement inspection of the Chengnan Market and found that the operator Jiang Mou was suspected of illegally trading wildlife products. After investigation, the store purchased a total of 39.7 kilograms of wild boar meat, has sold 16.4 kilograms, and the remaining 23.3 kilograms are for sale. The parties cannot provide a lawful source. The Renshou County Market Supervision Bureau confiscated the wildlife products involved in the case and imposed a fine in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Law and other relevant provisions.

6. The Market Supervision Bureau of Longhai City, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, investigated and dealt with cases of suspected illegal trade in wild animals

On February 24, 2020, the Market Supervision Bureau of Longhai City, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, and the Municipal Bureau of Oceanography and Fisheries jointly carried out a special law enforcement action for aquatic wildlife, conducting law enforcement inspections on the Shima Jinjiang Farmers' Market, Xinhang Market and other markets, and found that a shop in Xinhang Market was suspected of illegally trading wild animals. 7 Chinese horseshoe crabs were seized at the scene. After investigation, the Chinese horseshoe crab belongs to the aquatic wild animals under key protection in Fujian Province, and the joint inspection team immediately confiscated the Chinese horseshoe crabs and sent them to suitable waters for release. The Longhai Municipal Market Supervision Bureau conducted a case filing and investigation in accordance with the Wildlife Protection Law and other relevant provisions. At present, the case is under investigation.
