On August 17, 2021, 85-year-old Wang Deshun completed a 40-minute flight at Mujiayu Airport in Miyun, Beijing, in a SW100 light aircraft produced by the Slovenian Bat Aircraft Manufacturing Company.
During the flight, Wang Deshun also independently completed the operation of turning and climbing high, refreshing the record for the oldest age among Flight Cadets in China.

Flying pilots have extremely high physical requirements, and civil aviation pilots generally need to retire from the age of about 60. But the 85-year-old Wang Deshun did not give up his dream of flying because of his age: "There are precedents for elderly people flying airplanes abroad, and my current physical fitness is very good. ”
So, the elderly Wang Deshun sent an application to an airline in Beijing's Miyun District. Because of his excellent resume, the airline not only approved his application, but also developed a full study plan specifically for him, helping him realize his flying dreams.
"When studying this part of theory, the professional knowledge involves mathematics, English, physics, geography and other subjects, such as aerodynamics, flight principles, basic geographical knowledge, etc." All this is a new challenge for Wang Deshun.
However, with the spirit of not accepting defeat, Wang Deshun rationally used the "fragmented time" and finally passed the theory exam with a good score of 82 points.
Recalling the first time he sat in the cockpit of an airplane, Wang Deshun said that he was not as excited as he thought. "It takes a lot of courage, and it takes a lot of care, there is no extra time to enjoy the scenery outside, and you have to summarize the questions raised by the instructors and correct them the next day, because the first ten hours of flight learning are the most critical."
Wang Deshun introduced that normal flight is based on the standard five-sided take-off and landing procedure, and only when the standard is done can it have the ability to complete other subjects, so there is a lot of data to complete the take-off and landing.
In this way, after down-to-earth learning and practice, Wang Deshun slowly found the feeling of flying, and continued to improve his flying skills with the instructor in the subsequent learning.
After 30 days of theoretical study and 50 days of flight training, The elderly Wang Deshun has completed the first stage of study and will conduct a sports pilot license assessment in the near future.
