Today, the reporter contacted Zhu Yiran, a second-year graduate student at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, who is currently interning at the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee and participating in the image landscape design and implementation of the venue. In November 2020, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee released the collection of award-winning costume designs to the public. I formed a design team with my classmates and teachers to contribute to the design. After more than a year of design and modification, the 'Ruixue Xiangyun' scheme was finally selected as one of the series of awards dresses for the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games after several rounds of review, which can be regarded as my biggest New Year's gift in 2022. ”
The gown is divided into two dresses, red and blue, with a cross-necked collar in blue and a cardigan in red. The clothes have patterns of auspicious clouds and snowflakes, and the neckline, cuffs, and brim are sewn with white fluff.
Zhu Yiran introduced that the design of "Ruixue Xiangyun" integrates the thick oriental cultural heritage with the international modern style, and the design inspiration is derived from the traditional Chinese deep coat with the collar of the right side, the top and the bottom of the jacket are connected, and the form of the placket is integrated into the characteristics of modern clothing, which not only reflects the traditional culture but also conforms to the trend of the times. The design takes "Ruixue" and "Xiangyun" as the theme, two traditional Chinese auspicious symbols, and refines the mountain shape and dynamic line elements in the core graphics of the Winter Olympic Games, showing the technique of "Golden Landscape" in traditional Chinese painting in the form of hand embroidery, reflecting the speed and passion of ice and snow sports, showing the Chinese charm combined with the auspicious cloud elements of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games with modern and simple techniques, highlighting the cultural heritage of Beijing as the city of the Two Olympics.
In terms of color, the design team used the two colors of Tianji Blue and Xiaguang Red in the color system of the Beijing Winter Olympics. "Xiaguang Red" adds a joyful and festive atmosphere to the Beijing Winter Olympics, which is held during the Spring Festival. "Sky Blue" is the color of the clear sky after the snow, symbolizing the bright purity of ice and snow, implying dreams and the future.
From creativity, manuscript, pattern creation, pattern making, material selection, sample making, modification and debugging to the final garment plan, Zhu Yiran participated in the whole process with the team members under the guidance of mentors and experts. She said that the design of the winter Olympic awards clothing should not only spread Chinese culture, reflect fashion and beauty, but also fully consider the specific environmental needs such as warmth, windproof, and cold resistance, which is the difficulty and challenge of the winter Olympic awards clothing design. In order to cope with the extremely cold and strong windy climatic conditions of the snow venue in winter, Zhu Yiran and his friends designed the Winter Olympic awards dress into a three-layer structure according to the law of three-layer dressing, relying on aerospace technology and high-tech materials to improve windproof, cold resistance and warmth. In order to better present the soft gradient color, the thermal transfer printing technology is adopted, which combines the positioning print with the hand-pushed embroidery of intangible cultural heritage, so that the design is complete and more refined, and the problem of production and processing is solved.
Zhu Yiran said: "The Olympic award ceremony is the most glorious highlight of the whole event, and it is the scene with the most concentrated broadcast footage. Considering the needs of broadcasting and lens presentation, the details and colors of the neckline, cuffs, chest, shoulders and other key parts of the dress are emphasized to ensure the best presentation of the award dress in the lens. ”
