Diancang martial arts are mainly spread in the Dali region and have a long history. Named after the Cangshan Mountain (also known as diancang mountain) located in Dali, Yunnan, the diancang school of martial arts has been continuously developed through successive dynasties and dynasties, and has finally formed a martial arts system with significant regional characteristics and national characteristics.

The martial arts of the Diancang School integrate the strengths of the Kunlun, Wudang, Shaolin, and Emei schools, and thus derive more than 400 kinds of mysterious martial arts and boxing techniques, including more than 150 kinds of equipment routines, forming a set of mature systematic martial arts, series of instruments and systematic martial arts theory system, and retaining some martial arts routines that have been lost in the Central Plains.

Dali martial arts have a long history, according to relevant documents, as early as the Tang Dynasty Nanzhao state period, Nanzhao's unique sheath, wave sword, Yu dao has been well-known in the Central Plains. During the Dali Period of the Song Dynasty, the hereditary Xiangguo Gao family was already proficient in the fists of Nanzhong. In addition, many senior monks, Taoist monks, and chivalrous guests of the past also lived and taught martial arts in the Dali area, thus promoting the perfection and maturity of the martial arts of the Diancang School.

The martial arts of the Diancang School mainly include the Diancang Taiji Gate with Yang Chongqing as the main lineage, the Diancang Bagua Gate with Zhao Suchong as the main descendant, and the Diancang Tong Arm Gate and the Wuqing Gate with Bai Shiru as the main descendant.

With Bai Shiru as the main inheritor, the Diancang Tong Arm Gate and the Wuqing Gate are said to have been created by Emei Daochang in the middle of the Qing Dynasty, with the shape of a gibbon, attack and defense as the dominant idea, and the seventy-two palms as the basis of the palm method, which were integrated by many martial arts predecessors, and gradually formed the four-way arm fist and the six-way arm fist.

According to Bai Shiru, a representative inheritor of the provincial level, diancang martial arts have ten gates such as Taiji Gate, Bagua Gate, Tong Arm Gate, Shape Meaning Gate, Southern Fist Gate, Eight Pole Gate, Wuji Gate, etc., and the instruments mainly include rope darts, thirteen sections of whips, dragon and phoenix double knives, Duo sheaths, single knives, five-element swords and nearly 20 kinds. There are five poisonous palms, tai chi palms, bagua palms, wave swords, yu knife secrets and so on.

The martial arts of the Diancang school are in their own vein, which have been inherited and developed mainly through the practice of martial arts by the head of the monastery and the inheritance of folk martial arts from generation to generation. As a typical representative of the exchange and integration of martial arts culture in the Central Plains and the Dali national martial arts, some of the essence of the martial arts routines in the Diancang school of martial arts have been lost in the Central Plains, and the rescue and protection of the Wushu of the Diancang School have important value and role in the study of the martial arts of the Central Plains.

In order to rescue the rich national cultural heritage of diancang wushu, promote excellent Chinese martial arts, and let the flowers of traditional martial arts shine again, in October 2013, Diancang wushu was announced by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government to be included in the third batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage project protection list. Bai Shiru, a representative inheritor of the provincial level, has authored the book "Diancang Sect Martial Arts", and has been teaching and teaching for many years, carrying out teaching and inheritance activities, and making continuous efforts to protect and inherit the Diancang Sect martial arts.
