Former Liverpool defender: In terms of club status, Liverpool can compete for Haaland

Dortmund striker Haaland is one of the most watched players in this summer's transfer market, with a number of clubs seeing him as a key target for reinforcements. Former Liverpool defender Glen Johnson said in an interview that in terms of club status, Liverpool will definitely not be behind in Haaland's competition.

In an interview with goal net, Johnson was asked if Liverpool could compete with Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris for Haaland, to which he replied:

'We all know that Liverpool signing players have a lot of stats, they have a certain salary standard, willing to pay or not willing to pay, and Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain can do almost anything they want to do.

'Of course it's going to be difficult to compete, but the top players are clear-headed and hopefully they're not just thinking about signing big contracts.

"They get a high salary wherever they go, so they need to be patient and choose the right club instead of being attracted to high numbers."
