Nikkei Shimbun reported on January 1 that Mitsuyoshi Kobayashi, president of Japanese telecom giant NTT Western, said that NTT plans to release a pilot 6G network currently under development at the 2025 Osaka World Expo.
It is reported that NTT has begun to design the infrastructure of the 6G network, and the details will be determined in the next fiscal year. NTT plans to commercialize its 6G technology by the end of the century.
According to a previous report by the Nikkei Shimbun, in response to the new generation of communication standard "6G", which will be popularized around 2030, Japan's NTT will expand cooperation to 100 companies in Japan and abroad in order to promote independent optical transmission technology to become an international standard. It is reported that NTT should learn from the failure of the mobile network service "i model" to expand overseas markets, and share technology and experience with Japanese, American, Eurasian enterprises from the research and development stage to carry out cooperation.
