A political animal – A Brief Review of "Late Bloomers"

【Prologue】

The recent literary scene seems to be a bit lively, because of Mo Yan's "Late Ripening Man".

Some commentators have said that this is another new work after 8 years of silence for Mo Yan after winning the Nobel Prize in Literature.

This statement is completely unrealistic.

Mo Yan has never stopped, and new works have been continuous in the past 8 years. He has written "anti-corruption novels", written anti-epidemic poems, no, he has written a lot of poems, such as "Whale Sea Red Leaves" and so on, and so on, not long ago, he also wrote "Seven Laws of Lotus Falling" (the definition I gave) praising the sage Chen Duxiu: "When hundreds of millions of people awaken, Fang Zhi Daxia will write poems", but unfortunately he did not even read "Night Rain Crazy Song Answer Shen II" and high-profile and dazzling words, causing the old decay to stay up all night to directly translate and paraphrase the poems of the sages to correct the audio-visual and compose the seven laws and a poem. Although the sages are ancient, they cannot be distorted.

Digression, this article is to briefly review "Late Ripening Man". What kind of book is this?

According to the CCTV reporter, Mo Yan said that the Nobel Prize is not the peak, and "Late Maturing Man" is a transcendence and breakthrough.

However, after reading it, I felt that "Late Ripening Man" did not go out of the routine of Mo Yan's previous novels at all--thought and art, but instead had made great strides in language.

The linguistic characteristics of Mo Yan's novels are distinctly difficult, redundant, and toothless. "Late Ripening Man" has reached the height of perfection, using super long sentences to deliberately add or indiscriminate punctuation, if it is the average author who may not even publish it, but in Mo Yan here it has become a "style", a Mo-style style.

For Mo Yan's evaluation, the Nobel Prize speech is very classic, authoritative, and also three points into the wood. I use one English word to sum up the essence of the award speech – A political animal. Yes, he's not so much a writer as he is a politician. This is standard English, and if I use man it would be pidgin. Mo Yan's novels always like to use the names of historical political figures in vulgarized novels.

The Late Bloomer is a collection of 12 separate stories with a unified theme, using the "red thread string pearl" structure method. Some commentators have said, "Mo Yan shows some wisdom, maybe everyone can read what they want..." This is his allegory, also known as magic realism. The preface to the novel may be "Literary Eye", or counted as a famous quote: "A person in particular wants to be something but never becomes a thing, then this and everything becomes something that he has been dreaming about all his life." ”

This is actually Mo Yan's inner portrayal. Mo Yan's character is almost on fire, but he is stubbornly reflected in the work, which is very distinct.

Of the 12, the second, "The Late Bloomer", is the core, otherwise he would not have taken it as the general title of the collection.

Please allow me to put a brief review in the second article.

This is the order.

【Text】

"Late Ripening Man" is divided into six chapters, and the main character is Jiang Er jiang tianxia. Jiang Tianxia is a daimyō. Review it chapter by chapter.

The first chapter begins with Mo Yan taking a French friend to visit Gaomi. Gao Mi was famous and developed by the light of Mo Yan. The original text describes it like this: Since filming the TV series "Yellow Corn" on the north bank of the Jiaohe River in my hometown, the local government has quickly built it into a well-known tourist hotspot in the peninsula on the basis of the scenery built by the TV series. Every May Day and Eleventh long holiday vehicles lined up in large groups of tourists crowded into piles. I feel a little incredible when I see such a lively scene. It's all some newly built landscapes, what bandit nests, county yamen have something to see. And my family's five crumbling broken houses have even been hung up with signs to become attractions every day, and even tourists from the south of the sea and even abroad come to watch. I can't imagine what they could see here. Although I can't imagine what they can see here, I often take some vips from afar to visit and explain to them with great care, of course, I can not come but always come. (Original quote) "Jiang Er" appeared, and Mo Yan explained the reason why he was "late ripening": "A few years ago, he pretended to be stupid because he did not pay a penny before he was exempted from agricultural taxes and retention at all levels. That is to say, Jiang Tianxia's pretending to be stupid is actually a kind of disguise, which is incompatible with precocious and late maturation. Why did Mo Yan say that he was late ripe? There is a lot of meaning in it, and the end will be revealed. Jiang Tianxia made a fortune by taking advantage of Mo Yan's award: Some people say that you can't stop Jiang Er from seeing that jiang Er's fortune is really coming. He first set up a stall next to his old house to sell your books, and then he sold local souvenirs such as paper cuts, clay sculptures, straw shoes, wood carvings... The key thing is that he bought the garbage-filled depression on the west side of my old house at a low price when no one reacted, hired someone to bulldoze and fill in, quickly built five houses, and then built a large canopy between the original old house and the new house, built dozens of stalls in it, and then rented these stalls to the traders who rented the five new houses to a writer from Qingdao for tens of thousands of dollars a year. A few decades ago, jiang er had a little problem in his head, and everyone in the village regarded him as a fool, but it turned out that he was the most shrewd person in the village. In the fourth chapter, it is also said that the rental writer also made a lot of money by forging Mo Yan's calligraphy. The end of this chapter is: I took my friend into the old residence Jiang Er behind me and shouted, "In the future, don't call me Jiang Er again, my name is Jiang - Heaven - Down." ”

The second chapter writes about the contradiction between Chang Lin, a poor peasant disciple of Hongmiao Zheng, and the 'Chicken Youth' (Zhiqing). In this chapter, a character Shan Xiongfei appears, "Grandpa and father were railway workers at that time, and the descendants of the proletariat who were born in such a noble and incomparable manner were said to have arranged for people like him to go to college, join the army, and recruit workers, but in the era of the prevalence of going to the back door, he became one of the few intellectuals in the independent camp who could not return to Qingdao and finally condescended to marry Wu Guihua in our village." This is a foreshadowing carefully designed by Mo Yan, and Shan Xiongfei's two daughters are named Zoya and Shula. The discerning person knows the intention at a glance. This chapter focuses on Changlin's specific function of "farting". "Chang Lin suddenly put a very loud fart, under normal circumstances, the stinky fart does not sound, but Chang Lin's fart is both smelly and loud." A fart wrote a chapter focusing on "The evil of Changlin is the evil of the times." Mo Yan also carefully designed Shu La to become Jiang Erjiang's secretary. Chang Lin's martial arts were also passed down by Jiang Tianxia's grandfather Jiang Qishan. The implication is that the reader will have his own opinion.

The third chapter is written because of watching the Albanian movie "Underground Guerrilla" movie, Chang Lin and Zhiqing fight. The focus was on a character, Shan Xiongfei, who beat Chang Lin violently. Shan Xiongfei "Grandfather and father were railway workers at that time such a noble and genuine proletarian descendant said that going to college, joining the army, and recruiting workers should first arrange people like him, but in the era of the prevalence of going to the back door, he became one of the few intellectuals in the independent camp who could not return to Qingdao and finally condescended to marry Wu Guihua in our village." After smashing the 'Gang of Four', he reluctantly arranged to go to the county fertilizer factory to do business, and when he kicked Chang Lin's ass angrily, he did not expect that a few years later he would become the door-to-door son-in-law of The Second Family of Chang Lin's neighbor Wu Lao'er and later became friends with Chang Lin who did not fight or know each other. This is all allegorical writing. It is intended to attack "intellectual youth going to the mountains and going to the countryside."

The fourth chapter brings the Japanese Writer Tsuruta Zekei from Kitakyushu to Gaomi from Mo Yan. First French, now Japanese, apparently suggesting that Mo Yan's award has brought the world to chinese literature. This is the view that some commentators have always insisted on. This chapter mainly talks about the connotation of "ripeness" of Jiang Tianxia's "late maturity", from pretending to be stupid and stunned to "Jiang Zong" on the rich side, with a satire on family planning.

The fifth chapter writes that the hometown uses Mo Yan's novel to greatly promote scenic spots and make a fortune. After two generations of workers, Shan Xiongfei became Jiang Er's "money-making tool", and after the poor peasants, Chang Lin and "paraquat" died. Mo Yan wrote a sentence meaningfully: "But when he was dying, he did not forget humor, I went to see him and scolded him, he actually said that the master and brother can indeed be counted as my grandfather's apprentice, he said that the master and brother are not committing suicide, I want to use this 'paraquat' to cure my stinky fart disease" Jiang Er's eyes were red and said, "Grandma's this humiliating person He is a precocious breed who is old and stupid, since he even has the courage to drink 'paraquat', what are he afraid of." The absurd story of a "revolutionary martial art" written in lengthy words was written, and the intention could not be more obvious: absurd politics desecrated art! The insinuation is wide.

The sixth chapter is the ending, saying that Jiang Er's "territory" was pushed by two bulldozers because of "illegal land use". The last sentence at the end is the finishing touch: "To say illegal is to say that it is legal to say that it is legal... This place was a 'flood detention area' set aside in the 1960s, but the river has been cut off for more than 30 years..." "Keep cooking." I dropped the phone and went back to bed to go to bed. The implication is not single, one of which is that the water conservancy projects of that era were actually useless. This kind of irony appears many times in Mo Yan's novels.

This concludes the brief review. Some commentators have said that this novel shows the wisdom of Jiang Tianxia's life: You all say that I pretend to be stupid, in fact, I am not pretending to be stupid, and there is a characteristic of our old Jiang family, that is, late ripening, when others are smart and clever, we are stupid and stay when others are exhausted and gradually enter a decadent state, we just happen to have our souls open and not forget, over-the-eye recitation, dim eyes become bright, bald hair I am an example. (Originally quoted).

In fact, the reason why Mo Yan said this was just the intention of a drunkard. Is it still mature that the achievements of maturity are pushed by two bulldozers at once?

So what does "late ripening" mean? Where is the "meaning" of this drunken man?'

Here the old decay reads "The winner who laughs last" is the winner.

Yes, ride a donkey to read the record book, walk and see. Who can laugh to the end, I really can't say for sure.
