Essential first aid knowledge for novices To save dogs' lives at critical times! Hopefully, shovelers will never need it!

1. Breathing check

(1) Touch the chest and feel the heart rise and fall

(2) Put your hand in front of your nose and confirm whether you are breathing;

(3) Place a small mirror in front of your nose or mouth to see if there is gas.

2. Heartbeat check

Place your ears on the left side of your chest near your elbow and listen for a heartbeat.

3. Pulse check

Place your fingers on the inner thighs to feel the pulse beat, and the dog's heart beats at 180,200 beats per minute.

4. Hypoxia examination

In hypoxia, the lips and gums appear blue or gray, and poor blood circulation can appear white.

5. Airway treatment

Let the dog lie on his side, lift his neck, tilt his head slightly upwards, open his mouth, and observe whether there is a foreign body in his throat. Where possible, clean up the foreign body.

6. Artificial respiration

Straighten the front of the tongue forward, close the mouth and straighten the neck, blow rapidly against the nose 4-5 times, the chest cavity should rise at the same time when blowing, relax after exhalation for 3-5 breaths, check the pulse. If you are still not breathing, repeat the blow about 10 times per minute

7. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Place the dog's right side facing down on the flat ground, fold your hands, straighten your arms, place the base of your palms on the chest wall, press quickly, gently compress the chest to 1/3 to 1/2 thick, press the chest about 15 times every 10 seconds, and combine 1 artificial respiration every 10 chest compressions

8. Get to the doctor as soon as possible

The CPR process takes about 20 minutes, during which you can get a ride to the hospital as soon as possible and continue CPR on the way. If your home is close to the pet hospital, it is best to seek medical treatment as soon as possible!
