On the morning of January 1, 2022, the first international urban art festival in Minhang, Shanghai and the "Together · Joy BROWN Sculpture Exhibition opened in Minhang Cultural Park, exhibiting 13 "doll" sculptures with different shapes and postures on the spot, attracting citizens and tourists to stop and watch, vividly interpreting the concept of "art, making the city warmer".
According to reports, in 2022, Minhang will take the urban art season as a platform, make full use of urban parks, roads, water systems, blocks, living circles and other spatial carriers, configure more public facilities for citizens to sit down and experience and communicate, implant more cultural and artistic works that show the characteristics of Shanghai's international cultural metropolis, reflect the characteristics of Minhang's red culture, Shanghai culture, and Jiangnan culture, better shape the "city expression", and let Minhang add more warmth, comfort and poetry.
As the opening exhibition of Shanghai Minhang International Urban Art Festival, "Together · JOY BROWN Sculpture Exhibition" is the first large-scale theme exhibition of American artist Joy Brown in China.
With the theme of "Together", a total of 13 sculptures are distributed in the meadows, shades of trees and beside the road in Minhang Cultural Park, through the sculpture creation of different shapes and character narratives, telling the audience about the connection and bondage between people and family, people and city, people and society, people and nature, etc., conveying an urban art story with temperature, feelings, belonging, and dreams, outlining a series of urban spatial landscapes full of humanistic care and spiritual significance, adding a warmth to the city in winter.
It is reported that Joy Brown's related series of works were invited to be exhibited on Broadway Avenue in New York in 2017. In the next six months, the exhibition in Shanghai will also hold different forms of interactive activities such as "Joy Brown Hand-painted Postcard", "DIY Happy Doll Blind Box" and "Lohas Clay Man" around the theme of "Together" and combined with the cultural environment of Minhang region, to continue to create hot spots and add cultural vitality.
On the same day, in order to reflect the inclusiveness of urban culture and the co-construction and sharing of people's cities, the "Minhang Art Venue Alliance" was also officially signed at the opening ceremony of the art season.
The alliance was spontaneously organized by the first batch of 16 major cultural venues in the district, such as Minhang Museum, Cai Bing Art Museum, Baolong Art Museum, Pearl Art Museum, etc., as well as well-known enterprises and professional associations in the industry. The Alliance will closely unite regional art spaces, art resources and artistic talents, and jointly create the Minhang International Urban Art Festival through a more diversified supply of high-quality cultural content, injecting more humanistic care and artistic charm into Minhang urban culture.
In the first quarter of 2022, the first batch of 16 cultural venues of the Minhang Art Venue Alliance will launch more than 20 wonderful cultural exhibitions and art exhibitions for the public.
