On December 31, at the 2021 9th Annual Ceremony of Guizhou People under Heaven and the Guizhou Merchants Association held in the middle of the year, the famous cultural scholar Yu Shicun made a speech entitled "Guizhou from History and Culture".
In his speech, he mentioned his indissoluble love affair with Guizhou. He expressed the hope that in the era of globalization, Guizhou people can provide an example for China and the world with a unique way of survival.
He analyzed the particularity of Guizhou from a historical and geographical point of view, and believed that Guizhou had a huge advantage of being a latecomer. In history, although Guizhou was civilized later, once it received the baptism of culture, it had amazing achievements in catching up. For example, Zheng Zhen and Mo Youzhi, who make Guizhou people proud, this is enough to show that a people who survive in a natural state have the advantage of being a latecomer and have great creative power.
From a geospatial point of view, Guizhou is mountainous in the southwest of the East Asian continent in the northern hemisphere, thus having the possibility of accumulation and the possibility of biological rich diversity. Different species and even ethnic groups can coexist harmoniously here. When Mr. Fei Xiaotong inspected the ethnic minority areas in Guizhou, he summed up his attitude towards different cultures: "Each is beautiful, the beauty of beauty, the beauty of beauty, and the unity of the world."
He also mentions gunzan time and space. In the eyes of the ancients, Genshan is a form that connects heaven and earth, and in the words of modern people, Genshan is a natural wifi. Today, the "Chinese Heavenly Eye" built in Guizhou also vividly illustrates the meaning of Genshan as wifi, whether it is experts or ordinary tourists, they can feel their subtle and profound connection with heaven and earth when they come here.
Yu Shicun believes that guizhou and other southwestern regions can be regarded as the real rear of the East Asian continent. He took Wang Yangming as an example, when Wang Yangming had difficulty gaining a foothold in the interior, he was exiled to Guizhou, where the psychology formed profoundly affected the development of East Asia.
Yu Shicun also specifically mentioned his relationship with Guizhou. He first came to Guizhou because of the book "Extraordinary Tao", when he was invited by the Sisyphus Bookstore to introduce his book in Guizhou. Later, when he encountered some life problems, he came to Guizhou, and as a result, he was inspired to write the "Biography of Lao Tzu" with personal characteristics, which is also one of his favorite works.
He believes that only by sorting out the history and culture of Guizhou and being familiar with the landscape figures of Guizhou can we understand China's Guizhou. The current globalization belongs to the consumption model, but Guizhou has its own way of survival: thick virtue, reflexive cultivation. I hope that the people of Guizhou can sort out this way of survival and provide it to people in the era of globalization, and can provide an example for China and the world.
