In 2016, Jiangsu officially launched the "Jiangsu Context Collation and Research Project", planning to spend 10 years to compile and publish 3,000 books to show the cultural roots of Jiangsu.
On December 30, 2021, the fourth batch of achievements of Jiangsu Bunko was held. So far, hundreds of experts and scholars have produced 740 books.
On the occasion of the press conference of the results, we interviewed the editors-in-chief of the sixth edition of Jiangsu Wenku to understand the story behind the compilation and publication with the public.
This issue of Modern Express interviewed Mr. Fan Heping, deputy editor-in-chief of the editorial board of Jiangsu Wenku, editor-in-chief of Jiangsu Wenku Research Editor, senior professor of liberal arts at Southeast University, and Mr. Jiang Jian, vice president of the Cultural Context Research Institute of Jiangsu Academy of Social Sciences.
For the history of human civilization, leaving a "cultural giant panda"
Brilliant galaxy of literary scholars, countless talented people, the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, the Huai River, taihu Lake in this land convergence, tossing, watching, interpreting the magnificent historical poems, this is the Jiangsu context. In this sense, all civilizations before this can be called "mountain and river civilizations". Fan Heping believes that the most essential starting point of the cultural context project is to stand at the height of the history of human civilization, try to completely preserve the Jiangsu culture of the Shanhe era, and provide a resource and root for the Jiangsu culture, Jiangsu civilization, Chinese culture, Chinese civilization, and even human civilization in the "post-shanhe era".
Fan Heping expressed the top-level design of the "Research Compilation" in one sentence: "through the bloodline, knowing the lifeblood, and looking up at the mountains", thus establishing a logical structure focusing on historical research, character research, and special topic research, and designing four sections: "General History of Culture", "Biography of Cultural Celebrities", "Special History of Culture" and "Special Study of Culture".
Fan Heping said that the essence of Jiangsu's cultural general history is "through the bloodline." "Tong" is, first of all, the close connection between Jiangsu culture and China's civilization and human civilization; secondly, the "communication" between the various cultural structures in the Jiangsu context; the third is the "communication" between the cultural development of various important historical periods in history; and finally, the "communication" with the life and life of Jiangsu people. The essence of the special history of Jiangsu culture and the special research of Jiangsu culture is "knowing the lifeblood", and the key word is "special"; the essence of Jiangsu local cultural history is "blood extension and connection", and the key word is "place".
The essence of "Jiangsu Cultural Celebrity Biography" is "looking up at the mountains". It is not a general biography for celebrities of the Jiangsu dynasties, but only for celebrities in the cultural sense. Fan Heping said: "It actually gives us an opportunity to bow to the cultural heroes and cultural pioneers who have made significant contributions to the development and inheritance of Jiangsu culture and Chinese culture in history." ”
Fan Heping said that culture has never been soft power, but an authentic hard power, and it is necessary to develop a culture as a "national strategy" and find a root driving force for economic and social development. "The biggest difficulty and the most important aspect of the whole context project is to pass on this concept, and what we have to do is not to show off history, but to leave a precious 'cultural giant panda' for the world."
Three hundred scholars in the heavenly group, five years to focus on original
From "through the blood vein, knowing the lifeblood, looking up at the mountains", to the implementation process of "shouwen, through the pulse, is Jiangsu", the "Research Compilation" has gone through five years, and the pace has not stopped.

Jiang Jian said that unlike other editions of the Jiangsu Bunko, each book in the Research Edition needs to be original. In the past five years, the most important task facing the "Research Editor" is to build and train a nationwide academic team specializing in the study of Jiangsu's cultural context for the first time.
After accumulation, the academic team of "Research Edition" has continued to grow. Among the 212 projects that have been approved, 196 hosts have senior titles, accounting for 92.5%, 14 hosts are intermediate titles, all with doctoral degrees; 211 university scholars have undertaken 75 projects (of which 985 university scholars have undertaken 31 projects). The team also strives to enlist the participation of scholars from outside the province, and 14 scholars from Peking University, Fudan University, Tongji University, East China Normal University, Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Theater Academy, Nankai University and other universities joined. "It is conceivable that a team of more than 300 experts working together to study Jiangsu is very large in the whole country." So far, we have been steadily advancing. Jiang Jian said.
At present, the "Research Edition" has completed the publication of 35 kinds of works (the first batch of 5 kinds, the second batch of 11 kinds, the third batch of 12 kinds, the fourth batch of 7 kinds), of which 16 kinds of "celebrity biographies", 10 kinds of "special history" and 9 kinds of "special studies". A further 17 manuscripts have been submitted to publishers and are currently in the process of being published.

The future plan, according to the progress requirements of more than half of the Time and Half of the tasks of the Jiangsu Cultural Context Project, will complete the project establishment work in 2022, and then will change the situation of "two-front operation" and pay full attention to the quality management and schedule management of the project with all energy.
"We don't do 'sandwich rice' and we don't want to be in a hurry, I think we can learn the cooking 'soup' instead of using the 'pressure cooker' to quickly form." Fan Heping said that good works and the public will have an instinctive "sense of tension", and it is normal to have a distance from "Jiangsu Bunko", but to find interesting content in professional works and think deeply, just like drinking delicious soup, the aftertaste is endless.
