United have won the title 20 times, and the Red Devils have finished second 17 times, the most in history. Tottenham have finished third-highest on 11 occasions, while the teams with the most fourth and fifth-place finishes are Arsenal, with 12 and 11 respectively.
West Brom, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday are the 22nd most ranked teams on four occasions. Manchester City and Leicester City have both ranked 21st five times. Chelsea and Coventry have finished 19th six times. (The Premier League began to be reduced to 20 teams at the beginning of the 1994/95 season)
