Twenty-two years ago today (December 29), Sega released its most ambitious action-adventure game, Shenmue: A Chapter yokosuka, on the eve of its millennium. Created by a team led by Then Sega ace producer Yu Suzuki at a cost of 7 billion yen to develop, the game is still considered a pioneer in open world games. Unfortunately, Shenmue only sold 1.13 million in the end, which seemed to be the last straw that crushed Sega, followed by the well-known Sega launch of the game console industry.
