The Orangerie Museum is housed in a 19th-century building that was built to protect the orange trees in the garden over the winter. The purpose-built top floor features two oval-shaped exhibition rooms that stand out the most – eight of Monet's elegant and huge oil paintings, Water Lilies, bathed in natural light.

I.M. Pei's glass pyramid is your compass, guiding you into the labyrinth of the Louvre. Today's Louvre is divided into four floors and has three pavilions: the Sully Wing, located at the easternmost end of the Louvre, which forms the four sides of the Cour Carrée (literally the "square courtyard"), the Denon Wing, which extends 800 meters south along the Seine; and the Richelieu Wing in the north, which is adjacent to the rue de Rivoli.

As the highlight of Paris, you can start with a 3-hour route – combining classics such as the famous Mona Lisa with unexpected contemporary works. A complex labyrinth of exhibition halls and stairs hovering between 5 floors of 3 pavilions offers you a game-like exploration experience of "Snakes and Ladders".

Louvre Exclusive Tips

The Louvre auditorium (next to the main entrance hall of the Louvre) hosts classical concerts several times a week. Don't miss Thursday's midday concert, featuring up-and-coming composers and musicians. The season lasts from September to April or May, depending on the concert schedule.

After touring this monumental museum, you can also look at the column arcades in the exquisite Jardin du Palais Royal and visit the beautiful Église St-Eustache. Follow those historic relics of the backstreet to the late-opening Centre Pompidou for modern and contemporary art and breathtaking rooftop views.

From a distance, look out over the Centre Pompidou, a box-shaped building decorated in three primary colors that sits amid a patch of pale grey roofs in Paris, like a set of bricks thrown by a child on the carpet of an elegant living room.

Visit the museum in the wind on a summer night

On a mild early summer day, on a Saturday in mid-May, the main museums around Paris are open late to celebrate the night of European museums, and most museums are free to enter, including the Louvre, the Orangerie and more. The 2021 Night of the Museum is scheduled for July 3.

Every hour on the hour, the 20,000 6-watt bulbs on the entire tower flash for 5 minutes. The lights were originally installed in Paris in 2000 to celebrate the millennium – 25 climbers spent five months installing existing bulbs and 40 kilometers of cable. The best place to see the light show is the Jardins du Trocadéro across the Seine.

From September to April, the last "fly" of each day begins 30 minutes before the park closes. Check in advance at any time of the year, as the balloon does not rise when the wind blows.

In the hearts of every Parisian, there is a place for it: for centuries, countless little children (and "older children") have spent weekend afternoons here, chasing toy sailboats in octagonal holy pools, and younger children can ride ponies nearby... All in all, all of the park's childhood nostalgia is still here, along with modern rides, tennis and other sports and play areas.

The beginning of "Love Before Sunset and Dusk" and the end of Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. It was all shot here.

See all kinds of passers-by on the street, or explore the imprint of Angel Amelie

All the romantic legends about Paris turn out to be true

As one of the sources of Parisian legends, Montmartre has always been different. Bohemians, revolutionaries, artists, concord dancers and headless martyrs have all played a role in its history. Its quiet streets and steep steps are charming places to stroll, flanked by crooked buildings crawling with ivy, especially in the early morning hours when there are few tourists.

This expansive neighborhood can also see high-kick dancers performing grand Cabarets. The legendary cabaret in Paris, the Moulin Rouge, is remembered for its posters for Toulouse-Rottrek and Baz Luhrmann's films, and the current Red Windmill is a replica built in 1925 and sparkling just below it.

For most French people, eating well is the most important thing, and they spend a lot of time thinking, discussing and enjoying good food and wine. Pistachio macaron, small cup of tomato soup, delicious red wine goulash, soft gummy cameo cheese on a cheese plate... Here, food is not a calorie, but a motivation to get up early in the morning.

In Paris, the lines between cafés, salons de thés, French taverns, beer halls, bars and even bar à vins are blurred. There's often no difference between drinking and visiting a nightclub – a quiet café around 3 p.m. may have a DJ in the evening, followed by someone dancing.

The setting of the bistro or bistrot is usually casual, offering French standard dishes (duck and steak with fried potatoes). Here, most of the original decorations have been preserved, such as the old Chez Paul and the boasted Le Chardenoux.

For Parisians, eating and drinking are as inseparable as wine and cheese, wine is undoubtedly the most popular drink in Paris, and the cost of house wine is always lower than bottled water.
