The man who lived in the cave on the cliff, saw and heard

(i)

I once heard of a special man who lived in a cave on a cliff, and many people thought he was strange.

He was a very cultured man, over forty years old, with no wife and no children, his parents had long since died, and he did not know when he began, and people used to call him "Chen Hen".

He had a memorable appearance: tall, with long hair, part of which was tied with wires in a cylindrical coil to the top of his head, and tied into a bow with two red ropes attached from his ears to his chin, his clothes were ragged but fashionable, and he wore many pieces of clothing under his coat, a pair of torn jeans, a pair of worn-out boots that made him look fully armed, and when he looked close, he looked like an ancient fallen scholar, and from a distance he looked like an iron tree blossoming overhead.

He was born in the 70s and had the privilege of reading for a few years, and by the 80s he was an intellectual in the countryside.

There are five people in his family, his parents have two sisters, his father has suffered from leg diseases for many years, slowly moving on crutches, his mother's eyes are not good, and his two sisters have not gone to school. The most precious thing in the house is the two thatched huts of the earthen fortress, and when the house leaks in the rain, the family uses all the tools that can get the water.

As a teenager, he graduated from junior high school and then left for Guangdong.

"Do you believe?" Cantonese people use a small board to notify others of the news, haha, press with your fingers, you can also talk, when I first saw it scared me to death, that is called big brother, only rich people can use it", he came back to the village people.

When he came back from Guangdong, he became more handsome and more fashionable, he thought so. His hair was curly, he wore blue-rimmed glasses, he walked with a gust of wind, and there was a charming smell on his body, which he said was called perfume, which could make him more attractive and tasteful.

He often visits other houses, shares the wonders he has seen with people, shows off that he has seen "modern girls", and after speaking, he will light his cigarette and smoke it intently.

Autumn in the south is unusually cool, the sky has long disappeared, the leaves are falling down unhurriedly, the wind blows a desolate atmosphere, and the weather is gradually getting colder.

Countrymen have very simple but practical heating tools: a brazier, put dry firewood, and warm the family.

But his autumn was very sad.

Two sisters got married, the eldest sister was abducted and sold, married far away in Sichuan, the second sister ate the tangyuan made of flour that was poisoned by people, died early in middle age, the mother also died in this meal, the second sister and the mother died only half a day apart, the father was old, and he died. In this way, he lost his loved ones and there were two thatched huts left in the family.

After his relatives left, he guarded the dilapidated earthen house and lived idly for a while, but the good times were not long, the hut was washed away in a heavy rain, and the remaining grain in the family was almost gone, so he had no choice but to find a cave on the nearby cliff, which the locals called "cat and cat hole", which was chiseled by landlords in the Republic of China period to avoid bandits.

Presumably he was a principled man. Although he has run out of food, he will not steal the fruits and vegetables of the villagers, will not scare the women and children who pass by on the road in the middle of the night, and will not take anything when he arrives at other people's homes. Because, he is also a cultured person.

He has several crafts, and Doing Shaw is one of them. The quality of what he did was better than that of professionals, and people who understood it said so. He also did carpentry work, which was more practical in the countryside.

But he is very lazy, does not use his own craftsmanship, does not work, and sometimes when he is hungry, he goes to other people's homes to rub some food.

Kindness is a good quality for rural people. In the cold winter months, every household is full of happiness. Villagers raise livestock, and when the meat is opened in the year, each family will kill a pig, marinate it into bacon, and continue to eat it in the coming year. At this time, he is happy, he can go to the gang to help other people's families, and then he will eat and drink every day, and the days will be like this day by day.

When people talk about him, there are endless sighs.

He doesn't farm, he doesn't trade, he doesn't plan his days, he eats and is lazy. Once, when someone looked at him pitifully, they gave him some seeds and asked him to plant them in his own field, but he turned around and ate the seeds.

Gradually, people's attitude towards him also changed from a little sympathy at the beginning to a deep hatred for him.

No pursuit is terrible, living can not rely on others to support a lifetime, who will take money to the same beggar in the same place, and who does not want to stretch out their hands every day, eat to open their mouths, it is best to chew gum while walking and singing cheerful songs when they travel to the famous mountains and rivers.

The days still lived like this, spring to autumn, the magpies on the trees multiplied for several generations, and finally they all moved.

He lived in his cave like this.

But at least he was a thoughtful man.

After a period of hard work, he transformed his "home". From a distance, the opening of the cave in the middle of the mountain seems to be flying a flag, which is his "door" made of rags, and he has built many stairs along the gap of the mountain from the doorway to the bottom of the mountain, and there are also railings next to the stairs, which is quite artistic.

Many people are curious about his home.

A few kids went on an expedition first.

After going there, I found that his hole was very messy, there were many mosquitoes, and the smell was very heavy, which could be described as dirty and messy. He gave the children a few pieces of candy each, and showed them what he called the "golden dollar treasure", which was actually an ancient copper coin that he had come to the cave to take, presumably buried in the cave by the landlord's family and not taken away.

A hapless child was pulled to his seat as he spoke, and he pulled out a pair of rusty scissors, and in a moment the child's hair was cut haphazardly, ugly, even a little funny, and suddenly the cave was full of children's laughter.

Since then, his image has become even worse, from a rural "stupid boy" to a tramp who does not want to make progress and act recklessly, and people do not want to see him again.

A person who does not pursue is doomed to be abandoned by time, and even heaven cannot help him.

The days still go by day by day.

In his words: A happy day is a day, hey, look at me, it's not like meat to eat. It was the pork that had been given to him, and the little pigs were only three months old and had been frozen to death in the winter.

He's smart, at least he's a cultured man. He would make a fire in the cave to keep warm; plant a small pepper plant in the middle of the mountainside; tell the children his magical story; and he would dress up as a frightened person and recite "incantations" while fetching water from the well.

After some time, I heard people say that they were arrested because they were arrested in a dispute and a fight when they went to ask for money.

I remember a few months ago, when he went out, he was still "cool": the hair was tied cylindrically with wires above his head, and he wore a scarf and a pair of glasses, but the glasses turned red, plus a small brown satchel, and he kept humming songs in his mouth: "The great river flows eastward, and the stars in the sky are in the big dipper..." In this way, he disappeared into people's lives.

A few years later, I heard the old man say that he was no longer alive.

Time always gives you opportunities, but also gives you tribulations, all sentient beings, white clouds and dogs, everything is unpredictable.

However, at all times, we must be positive, industrious and self-motivated, as long as we are healthy, hope is always there.

Diligence, laziness, and hard work will make life better.
