Modern anatomy textbooks describe the masseter muscle as having two parts, the surface layer and the deep layer. Recently, researchers at the University of Basel in Switzerland found that there is a third layer of muscle tissue in the masseter muscle, known as the "masseter coronal muscle". It may help stabilize the lower jaw by lifting and contracting the crown process, and is the only part of the masseter muscle that can pull the jaw backwards, which is essential for chewing. The findings could be useful in the treatment of related diseases involving, for example, the jaw. (Source: Science and Technology Daily)

●According to the recent news of the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Geological Survey of Qinghai Province, in the second comprehensive scientific expedition to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, geological researchers found the granite-pegmatite belt related to mineralization such as lithium, beryllium and tungsten in the Bayankara area of Qinghai Province. This is the first time this type of deposit has been found in the Bayankara region of Qinghai. (Source: Xinhua News Agency)

Recently, Wu Yanhua, deputy director of the China National Space Administration, said that there are still multi-type carrier rockets in China that are in the development stage and will complete their first flight in the next few years. A heavy carrier rocket can send a 150-ton spacecraft into low-Earth orbit, which is equivalent to launching a Tiangong space station at a time. In the future, it will meet China's long-term deep space exploration and manned moon landing and other major national space missions. At the same time, a new generation of manned rockets is also under development. (Source: CCTV News)

Recently, the team of academician Guo Guangcan of the University of Science and Technology of China has made important progress in the study of cold atom super-resolution imaging. The researchers implement single-ion super-resolution imaging in ion trap systems, and this experimental technique can be extended to the multibody and associative measurement of cold atom systems, and has good compatibility with other cold atom systems, which can be applied to optical lattice, neutral atomic optical tweezers, and cold atom-ion mixing systems. The results were recently published in the Physical Review Letters. (Source: Science and Technology Daily)

●Recently, the team of Professor Jiang Guangshun of Northeast Forestry University published a research result entitled "Inbreeding Status and Conservation Significance of Northeast Tiger Populations" in the international journal Animal Protection. For the first time, the study reveals evidence of inbreeding pressure in small populations of wild Siberian tigers in China, and the immediate threat it poses. It is recommended to establish corridors as soon as possible to connect wild tiger individuals with other habitat patches or to re-introduce them into the wild through feral pups to improve the current genetic status to mitigate the threat. ● The recent outbreak of H5N1 avian influenza in parts of Israel has killed more than 2,000 wild cranes and culled 244,000 chickens. Uri Nawe, a senior researcher at the Nature and Parks Authority, believes that bird flu occurs every year in Israel, but this year the situation is much more serious than in previous years, and so many wild cranes have died from the epidemic "unusually".
