Josef Fares, founder of Hazelight Studios, expressed his strong opinion on the game's NFT (non-homogeneous token), saying he would rather "hit an arrow in the knee" than join the NFT in his future games. In a recent interview with The Washington Post, he admitted that he might be called a "fool" by others because he believed that gaming was first an art form and then a risky commercial project.

Fares explains, "In my opinion, any design or adjustment in the game for the purpose of the player's wallet is wrong. If you ask the CEO of a company who runs it, he'll say I'm stupid because the company is all about making money. But I'll still say no, for me, games are art. ”
He also said he doesn't support service games because there are too many games in the industry that are still being released while they are not finished.
"We're never going to launch a service game, and I'm not saying that repetitive gameplay is bad for every game, I'm just saying that our games are based on stories and single-player experiences, and we're now faced with the problem that some players haven't even completed a single-player experience, so why should we focus on repetitive playability?"
