Tesla immediately announced that it will put restrictions on passenger game functions, which cannot be used once the vehicle is started.
Previously, Tesla launched the Passenger Play passenger game function, which allows the central screen to display a split screen, providing the driving information needed for driving, and the other half of the screen is used to play the game screen. This allows passengers in the car to pass the time during the journey, and since this feature is designed for passengers, it can be used normally even when the vehicle is on the move.
However, this does lead to safety issues, starting with the opportunity for drivers to be distracted by the graphics and sounds of video games, and even when Autopilot is turned on, drivers should still focus on the road. In addition, although passenger play is nominally a "passenger game function", when it is turned on, a safety warning will pop up and require confirmation that the operator is the identity of the passenger, but in addition, the original factory does not have other effective mechanisms to prevent abuse by others.
As a result, passenger play immediately caused controversy after its launch, which also led to an investigation into the system by NHTSA in the United States. Just after the official investigation was launched, Tesla notified NHTSA that it would modify the function and add restrictions.
