"Spider-Man" is a global hit, and Marvel's screen domination continues

The premiere performance ranked second in film history, only lower than "Reunion 4"

In December, Spider-Man: Homeless heroes dominated theaters around the world with thunder.

Unsurprisingly, Spider-Man: Homeless heroes became one of the highest-grossing films ever premiered, not only breaking all the records of the past two years in North America with more than $200 million, but also pressing the global opening figure of nearly $600 million, and topped the box office in 60 overseas markets, making the big screen once again full of vitality.

The success of Spider-Man: Homeless also proves once again that the popularity of the Marvel Universe continues.

"Spider-Man" brushed the record book, and North American theaters returned to the top

From the perspective of the scope of release, the number of North American theaters of "Spider-Man: Homeless" reached 4336, which was only less than "007: No Time to Die" (4407) to occupy the second place of the year.

Spider-Man: Homeless swept $50 million in advance, enough to rank among the top three in film history, slightly behind Avengers: Endgame ($60 million) and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens ($57 million). Bursting with immense energy from the zero point field, Spider-Man: Homeless is destined to sweep the record.

By Friday, Spider-Man: Homeless had grossed $122 million, pulling the North American market up 4,761 percent. That's a feat that surpassed Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens ($119 million) and soared to the second highest single-day box office in film history, slightly below Avengers: Endgame ($157 million). With a harvest of more than $100 million on the first day alone, "Spider-Man: Heroes Gone" broke into the top 10 of the annual list, but the good drama has just begun.

Over the next two days, Spider-Man: Homeless fell 39% and 13%, respectively, to a single-day box office of $73.94 million and $64.23 million. According to IMDbPro, Spider-Man: Homeless reported $260 million in its first weekend, surpassing Avengers: Infinity War ($258 million) and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens ($248 million), only behind Avengers: Endgame ($357 million).

At the same time, the revenue of "Spider-Man: Homeless" reached $60,000, which greatly increased the ceiling of the same indicator this year. At the same time, the revenue of "Spider-Man: Homeless" single film accounted for 92% of the weekend market, which has surpassed 89% of the opening week of "Avengers: Endgame" and became the highest proportion of single films in film history.

From this year's point of view, in early October, "Venom 2: The Carnage Begins" hit an annual high of $90.03 million, but it was only easy to disarm in front of "Spider-Man: Homeless". In fact, in just three days, Spider-Man: Homeless surpassed the cumulative value of "Legend of shangqi and the ten rings" ($225 million) to top the annual box office list in North America.

In the same slot in 2019, Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker started at $177 million, the best result in North America in the next two years; this time Spider-Man: Homeless completely overtook the former. Driven by blockbuster films and holiday positives, the North American film market has returned to its heyday.

Throughout the Spider-Man film series, Spider-Man: Homeless also has no suspense: in 2007, Spider-Man 3 set a live-action version record for $151 million, and finally gave way after 14 years; and during Tom Holland's tenure, the first "Spider-Man: Homecoming" premiered at $117 million, which was also replaced by "Spider-Man: Heroes No Return".

Judging from the cumulative box office, the second "Spider-Man: Hero Expedition" finally reported at $390 million, and "Spider-Man: Heroes No Return" is expected to achieve a rebound within two weeks.

Under the dazzling light of Spider-Man: Homeless, "Jade Face" released by searchlights was slightly silent, earning $2.81 million in 2145 theaters, ranking only 5th on the list. A new directorial work by Gilmour del Toro since The Shape of Water, The Jade Face is based on William Lindsay Gresham's 1946 novel Alley of Nightmares, which tells the story of circus apprentice Tyrone Bauer who becomes a fraudulent artist and gradually joins a pseudo-religious Hinduism.

"Jade Face" is a star-studded collection of well-known actors such as Bradley Cooper, Kate Blanchett, Toni Collette and William Dafoe. Although the Rotten Tomatoes freshness rating of "Jade Face Love Demon" reached 81%, it is difficult to recover the cost of $60 million at the theater end.

Fueled by the explosion of Spider-Man: Homeless, the North American weekend market surged 545% to $283 million, the highest value since Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker, while the total annual north American box office reached $3.979 billion, about to double from $2.1 billion last year.

Spider-Man topped the global charts

As the 8th film of the live-action version of Spider-Man, and the third bullet after joining the "Marvel Cinematic Universe", the director of "Spider-Man: Homeless" is still joe Watts, Tom Holland, Jacob Patrand and Zaandaa's "Iron Triangle", plus marissa Tomei and other old faces that are familiar to fans of the series, and the cast is unprecedentedly strong.

As a "foreign aid" convention for the new version of Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, also joined in, playing a key role in the film's plot advancement.

At the same time, the reputation of "Spider-Man: Homeless" reached the highest level of this year, with a Rotten Tomatoes freshness rating of 94%, while CinemaScore's rating reached A+, becoming the fourth live-action superhero film to get a perfect score, after only "Black Panther", the 1st and 4th "Avengers" had won this honor.

This is also reflected in the audience reaction of "Spider-Man: Homeless": when the much-anticipated historic scene finally appeared, the fans erupted into enthusiastic cheers and applause, such an immersive experience that has not been seen since "Avengers 4: Endgame"; and as with previous Marvel novels, the audience still stayed in their seats waiting for the Easter egg after the end of the movie, although the last two should actually be classified as trailers. As the most gimmicky Marvel blockbuster after "Avengers 4: Endgame", the excellent wind review of "Spider-Man: Homeless" will undoubtedly have a significant pull effect, and the total North American box office will rise by at least $550 million.

After Spider-Man: Homeless swept the record, the dominance of the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" continued to be revealed: in this year's North American box office list, Spider-Man: Heroes Without Return was a hit, "Legend of shangqi and the Ten Rings" and "Black Widow" also ranked at the top, "Marvel Cinematic Universe" occupied three places in the top 5, and "Venom 2: The Carnage Begins" was also adapted from Marvel characters and glimpsed in the Easter egg, with the only exception being "Fast and Furious 9".

Coupled with the newly introduced popular characters in the fourth phase such as "ShangQi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" and the plot connection with streaming dramas such as "Wanda's Visions", Marvel President Kevin Feige's film and television plans are expanding dramatically, accumulating energy for future "Avengers" movies.

"Spider-Man" is a global hit, and Marvel's screen domination continues

Since Wednesday, "Spider-Man: Homeless" has opened a big hit in many overseas markets: in the United Kingdom, "Spider-Man: Homeless" set a new local Wednesday opening record with tens of millions of dollars, and it is also the best opening day performance in the history of Sony films; in South Korea, "Spider-Man: Homeless" even surpassed the second part of the same period, without suspense to break the annual box office record.

According to comScore, Spider-Man: Homeless swept $334 million in 60 overseas markets, setting a new annual record for 007: No Time to Die in the Uk with $42.3 million, followed by Mexico ($33.3 million), South Korea ($23.6 million), France ($19.2 million), Australia ($18.8 million), Brazil ($18.6 million), India ($18.2 million) and Russia/CIS ($17.9 million). "Spider-Man: Heroes Without Return" also reached the top without suspense in Hong Kong and Taiwan theaters, once again confirming Marvel's appeal in the Chinese-speaking area.

Combined with the North American box office, Spider-Man: Homeless has a global opening of $587 million, trailing only the last two Avengers in film history. Even if the cost of Spider-Man: Homeless rises to $200 million, $40 million more than the previous game, the first week's earnings are enough to fully recover the upfront investment. Another blockbuster film, The Matrix 4, was credited $9.2 million in seven countries and territories, and will face off against Spider-Man: Homeless this week.

It is worth mentioning that as early as three weeks before the release of "Spider-Man: Homeless", Sony has announced that Tom Holland will continue to shoot three "Spider-Man" movies, which shows the confidence of the filmmakers in the film. After the dramatic ending of "Spider-Man: Homeless", Spider-Man is no longer confined to high school life and will step into the wider world, coupled with the direct connection with the Sony universe through easter eggs, the new journey in the future is undoubtedly looking forward to fans.

With next week's "Christmas slot" bringing a new wave of movie viewing peaks, "Spider-Man: Heroes Of No Return" will eventually exceed $1 billion, and it is even expected to take the global annual crown into the arms before the end of the year. At the same time, "The Matrix 4", "The Voice of Joy 2" and "Ace Agent: Origins" will land on the big screen in groups, and the global theater line will usher in a long-lost dawn of victory.
