Since trading Harden to the Nets, the Houston Rockets have been in rebuilding form. After a mediocre performance last season, the Rockets haven't changed much in the NBA season of 2021-22. The Rockets, though, have seen hope, and the youngsters in their squad are doing well. In this case, the Rockets are eager to send away John Wall, who earns more than 40 million a year.
Wall has been named an All-Star five times and was captain of the Wizards. But after coming to the Rockets, Wall's career came to an abrupt halt. The 31-year-old hasn't played a single game this season. This directly adversely affected the Rockets, as they ranked first from the bottom in the Western Conference.
Now, the only way to fix this situation is to trade him. Considering that Wall has a huge contract, it is difficult to find a suitable destination for him. Still, Faffel, a columnist for the U.S. media B/R, offered the Rockets a deal against the Clippers.
In the deal, the Rockets sent Wall out to trade the Clippers for Ibaka, Kennard and Bledsoe.
Wall's explosiveness is no longer top-notch, but he can still put pressure on defenders and offer shots and organisational skills that are stronger than Bledsoe.' That certainly wasn't enough to motivate the Clippers to fully embrace his payroll contract. But the opportunity cost is enough for them to think about it — especially if Nader is likely to miss this season. Bledsoe was often dumbfounded on the offensive end, while Ibaka was not taken seriously by Tyrone Lu upon his return. Neither is likely to remain in Los Angeles after this season. Luke Kennard's play was uneven after a relatively hot start. ”
While the Clippers may think twice before accepting the offer, Farfield wrote that the Rockets should accept the deal without any problems.
"The Rockets should not hesitate. Kennard's remaining balance on his contract is not as high as Wall's one season, and he is only 25 years old. The more prominent question is whether the Rockets are willing to subsidize draft picks to the Clippers, which would be more attractive to Los Angeles."
If the Clippers can get Wall, their championship prospects will be even better. Once Leonard returns before the playoffs, the Clippers' roster will be perfect.
