On December 24, the Guangdong Terminal Fast Charging Industry Association was officially established, and its members include China Communications Institute, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, Anker, Bess and many other mobile phone and charging industry technology brands. The association will be committed to researching and specifying the industry's unified fast charging specifications, so that mobile phone fast charging technology can be standardized.
This should be the first terminal fast charging industry association in China, founded by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with the purpose of unifying the fast charging agreement standards of each family as soon as possible. Although the vast majority of devices on the market support PD or QC fast charging protocol, but the security of the protocol has a big problem, major brands are not willing to spend too much effort on it, all high-power fast charging use private protocols, which directly limits the range of mobile phone fast charging accessories that consumers can use.
Fast charging technology between different brands can not be universal, which means that after you change to other brands of mobile phones, the charger of the original mobile phone is almost useless. If you want to buy spare ones, you can only choose the official original, and the third-party products on the market cannot activate the fast charge. This has led to more and more chargers on the hands of consumers, but few can be used.
Especially now that mobile phone manufacturers no longer attach mobile phone chargers for environmental protection, this move can not achieve the purpose of environmental protection, the charger is not universal, everyone still has to buy after all, but increases the waste of resources in the packaging box. The establishment of the Terminal Fast Charging Industry Association on the one hand accelerates the standardization of terminal fast charging technology, on the other hand, it is also hoped to reduce e-waste and energy waste, and bring consumers a safer and more convenient charging experience.
At present, it is not clear that the formulation of unified standards is not clear, after all, each brand has its own agreement, charging voltage / power, battery management schemes are different, want everyone to reach a unified mutual do not suffer losses, it should still be quite difficult. However, the establishment of the association can also be regarded as a hope that the day when a charger will be used all over the world will come sooner.
