Since the implementation of the "Rural Bookstore" project in 2007, the "Rural Bookstore" has played an active role in promoting the revitalization of rural culture in our county, narrowing the cultural gap between urban and rural areas, and enhancing the cultural self-confidence of farmers.
In Chatiao Village, Shimen Town, villagers often come to the "Farmhouse Bookstore" to read books, and Korean and Chinese books are placed on the shelves in different categories, providing knowledge guarantee for more than 1,000 Korean villagers and nearly 200 Han villagers in Chatiao Village. In the corner of the bookstore, newspapers and brochures are displayed. The room just one wall away from the bookstore is the electronic reading room of The Tea Bar Village, where villagers can use a computer to search for the knowledge they want to know.
In order to build a bookhouse that the villagers are satisfied with, Chatiao Village integrates resources and constantly updates and enriches the library according to the opinions of the masses. Since the establishment of the "Rural Bookstore" in 2008, it has collected more than 700 Books in Korean and more than 1,000 books in Chinese, covering more than ten kinds of children', literature, art, agricultural technology and so on. After tea and dinner or in the spare time of farming, everyone often gets together to read books and talk about health, Park Zhenshun, secretary of the party branch of Chatiao Village in Shimen Town, said that the rural bookstore has improved the quality of villagers, made the neighborhood more harmonious, and also helped scientific planting.
In order to better let the villagers relive the history of the party and inherit the red culture, the Shimen town government launched the "rural bookstore + red education" co-construction model, and moved the party history education into the bookstore. Winter and summer vacations regularly organize young people to carry out red theme book reading and red movie watching activities, and actively guide students and left-behind children to study in the bookstore, and the "rural bookstore" has become the "second classroom" of rural education.
The "Rural Bookstore" project fundamentally solves the problem of no books in rural areas and difficulty for farmers to read, so that farmers can enjoy the fruits of cultural reform and development, and provides a strong cultural support for the effective connection between the achievements of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization. In 2012, the "rural bookstore" in our county has reached the full coverage of 180 administrative villages, with an average of more than 1,000 books per bookstore. The number of books distributed has not only increased, but also expanded the content from meeting the needs of farmers to get rich at the beginning to being scientific, ideological and easy to understand, so that the "farmhouse bookstore" has truly become a school for farmers to get rich, a temple for rural culture, and a "second classroom" for rural students.
