With a deafening noise, four huge cooling towers in North Yorkshire, England, were demolished by blasting. These behemoths were razed to the ground in seconds, and the scene was spectacular.

The cooling towers, which are nearly 100 meters high, are part of the Eggborough Power Plant. It relies on traditional coal-burning methods to generate electricity, and its huge cluster of cooling towers made it a local landmark for a time.
However, power plants emit large amounts of greenhouse gases and pollute the surrounding environment. In 2018, the power plant ceased operations.
After three years of standing in silence, the four cooling towers were finally demolished by blasts in recent days. The remaining four will also be demolished within this year.
