In the week ended 4 December, the number of cases of the Omiljun strain was only 0.7% of the total number of cases; in the week ended 11 December, the proportion of Omiljun strain infections rose to 12.6%, and in the week ended 18 December, the proportion rose to 73.2%.

According to data from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as of the 20th, at least 48 states in the United States have reported cases of Infection with the Omikejong strain.
