This picture was recorded by reporters at the Public Security Bureau of Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, on the afternoon of June 24, and this is the 28th abducted child recognition activity organized by the Shaanxi public security organs this year.

This meeting is the third time that the father and son who hug and cry in the picture meet again after a gap of 28 years. 28 years ago, two sons of Liu Jianhua, a villager in Zhaoguan Village, a small village in Wugong County, Xianyang County, Shaanxi Province, were lost at the same time, and the originally happy family was also torn apart on this day. After 28 years, Liu Jianhua finally found two sons, and at the reunion site, Liu Jianhua and his sister and other relatives could no longer suppress their tears.
This is the home of Liu Jianhua in Zhaoguan Village, Wugong County, Xianyang County, Shaanxi, and early in the morning, he got up to clean up the courtyard and cleaned the cement floor over and over again.
Reporter: I see that you have been busy mopping the floor?
Liu Jianhua: (while wiping tears and saying) Happy! Happy today. It's happy (tears), it's not crying. I couldn't close my eyes with excitement all night, and I happily welcomed this day.
On this day, Liu Jianhua waited bitterly for 28 years. In a few hours, he would be able to see his two sons in person. After 28 years of separation, the children who were still lying in their father's arms are now in their 30s. Being able to hold his two sons in his arms once again is something that Liu Jianhua has always longed for.
Liu Jianhua: I am happy to be able to personally hold my son in my arms.
Reporter: The police told you what it was like to find [the children]?
Liu Jianhua: Yes! He was so happy that he didn't sleep at night. After finding my youngest son and comparing the blood samples, I didn't sleep all night and was very happy. Imagine the younger son now, tormented in someone else's house when he leaves, crying so hard when he hugs, imagining that thing at night.
In the afternoon of the same day, at the Public Security Bureau of Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, Liu Jianhua met his two sons, and after 28 years, the father and son were finally reunited.
In 1993, in order to make a living, Liu Jianhua took his wife and children from his hometown in xianyang countryside to a farmers' market on Xiying Road in Xi'an to sell vegetables. At that time, Liu Jianhua's eldest son Wenwen was 5 years old, and the younger son was more than 2 years old, and his wife had just given birth to a daughter before she was born. One day, due to the small and stuffy heat of the rental house, the two sons quarreled badly, and the mother asked the brothers to go to the vegetable market to find their father.
Liu Jianhua: The moment I lost the baby, I was selling vegetables in the market, my mother was watching the baby (little sister), her brother was arguing, (his mother) said to go to your father, your father was selling vegetables in the market. After going out, my mother knew that I was here, and I knew that this baby was at home, and I couldn't find it in the afternoon, so I looked everywhere.
After the two brothers were lost, Liu Jianhua's family mobilized relatives and friends to inquire about the whereabouts of the children.
Liu Jianhua: My friend, my friend who sells vegetables, nearly 40 people (looking for it together). When I heard that I had lost my baby, I was very excited at that time, so I left the vegetable stall and ran to look for it. Give people money to go out to eat, don't want to give anyone money to eat, don't give money to hitchhiking (road fees), give us help to find a few months, and finally there is no news.
Few clues The road to finding a son is long
After the incident, Liu Jianhua reported to the local public security organ for the first time, but due to the technical conditions and investigation methods of that year, it was very difficult for the police to solve the case.
The two children had never taken a single photo before they were lost, and the police could only visit and investigate according to Liu Jianhua's description of the child's appearance and clothing, and had not received valuable clues. As the parents of the child, Liu Jianhua and his wife almost had a mental breakdown, and the two finally chose to end the marriage. In the face of a broken family and an unknown road ahead, Liu Jianhua's search for his son has never stopped.
Liu Jianhua: After walking through many places, while working while asking, I asked about a fort, and the people in the fort said who we had raised a baby here, and ran over to see if it was, the baby was still small, it wasn't.
In the 28 years of searching for a son, Liu Jianhua could not remember how many places he had visited and asked how many people's homes he had asked. As time went on, both sons grew up, and it was almost impossible to get them back based on their childhood looks.
Tired of going out to work, Liu Jianhua returned to the place where the child was lost and waited in place, and when he had the energy, he went out to continue to search.
Liu Jianhua: Because we have an impression in our minds, we asked about this matter, and we have been looking for it for several years, and there has been no news. When there is no news, they stay where they are. When Wa came back to find this place, there was a big wild goose pagoda in Xi'an City, a big wild goose pagoda, a big wild goose pagoda Xiying Road police station, and the back village still existed, and if he came back, he could find it.
DNA databases play a role In the years of unsolved cases, there has been a turnaround
At the same time that Liu Jianhua was struggling to find his two sons, the technical means of the police were gradually developing. In 2009, the Ministry of Public Security established a national DNA database on trafficking to collect DNA and related information entered into relatives of abducted or missing children.
Since January this year, the Ministry of Public Security has launched a "reunion operation" to accelerate the investigation of the backlog of child trafficking and the search for missing abducted children. Whenever the police informed Liu Jianhua to collect blood, he was full of hope, and Liu Jianhua felt that drawing blood was a hope.
Liu Jianhua: The Xi'an Municipal (Public Security) Bureau has drawn my blood several times, including the county bureau several times, and (the police) told me that every year the machine (technology) is updated, and it will get better and better every year, and it will definitely find your children.
Since 2015, when DNA blood samples from Liu Jianhua and his ex-wife were entered into the database, he can't remember how many times he's taken blood. In recent years, the number of blood samples in the database has gradually increased, and several times it has been found that the blood sample points are close to Liu Jianhua's blood sample data, but after further blood sampling and verification, the clues have finally been ruled out.
Chen Lin, head of the criminal police detachment of the Xianyang City Public Security Bureau: The main difficulty in the "reunion operation" is that the information is asymmetric. That is to say, under normal circumstances, the family of the missing or abducted victim will take the initiative to go to the public security organ to report the case and collect blood. However, in the families of these children who may be adopted or abducted into the society, he generally does not take the initiative to collect blood.
Blood collection, comparison, exclusion, although disappointed many times, but whenever the police once again notified Liu Jianhua to draw blood, he would be full of energy and hope.
Liu Jianhua: Drawing blood is a kind of hope, why don't you draw blood? We don't have any photos, we can't recognize them unless we take DNA.
Reporter: Every time you draw blood, you are actually full of hope.
Liu Jianhua: That's for sure.
Reporter: The last time you were asked to draw blood, your hopes were the same as before?
Liu Jianhua: The police did not say, and drew blood again. I said there is hope? (Police) said there was a little bit. I said to smoke a little bit more.
This time, the clue stems from a blood sample information in the database of Gongyi City, Henan Province, in June this year, which is highly consistent with the DNA data of Liu Jianhua and his ex-wife, and the 28-year-old unresolved case has finally ushered in a turnaround.
Ni Jiangtao, commander of the criminal police brigade of the Wugong County Public Security Bureau in Xianyang City: It was June 15, and our criminal police brigade received an order from the county bureau that a child named Zhou Mou in Gongyi, Henan Province, may be one of the two brothers who were abducted in Zhaoguan Village, Wugong County in 1993. Contacted Zhou, Zhou is very cooperative. He can actually remember that his hometown lived in a large tile house and adobe wall, his grandfather lived in an earthen kang, his parents were a vegetable seller, he knew that he was abducted, so he was very cooperative with us. When I heard that his parents were selling vegetables, it was in line with the basic circumstances of our case.
Ma Fei, a police officer of the criminal police brigade of the Wugong County Public Security Bureau in Xianyang City: The man's blood was collected, and after the collection, it was sent back to our unit overnight for DNA comparison and re-examination. After comparison, it was found that this man was the eldest of the two sons abducted by Master Liu in 1993.
Zhou was only 5 years old when he was abducted, and although he lived in Henan for 28 years, he still clearly remembers the summer when he was abducted, a strange woman took him away from Xi'an and went to Henan to hand over to his current adoptive parents. Zhou Mou's impression was that there was indeed a child at that time, but he was not sure whether it was his younger brother.
Liu Jianhua's eldest son Zhou Mou: barefoot, no shoes, at that time also poor, no shoes, it is because of a piece of ice cream, I have a child in my mind, I don't know who it is, I can't remember for a long time, I will eat it when I buy sorbet, he said let me take a bite, I said no, he gave me a shot. After a pause, a man came over, and she bought me an ice cream and led me away.
According to the clues provided by Zhou and his adoptive parents, the police quickly locked the criminal suspect Sun Mou.
Ni Jiangtao, commander of the criminal police brigade of the Wugong County Public Security Bureau in Xianyang City: Zhou said that he was abducted by Sun Mou from the same village. We inquired about Zhou's adoptive parents. It was confirmed that Zhou was indeed purchased from the hands of Sun Mou of the same village at a price of 4,000 yuan in July 1993. Knowing that Sun May be suspected of the crime of abducting and trafficking women and children, we want to catch Sun as soon as possible and try to rescue the second elder (who was abducted).
The case was settled
28 years ago, the two brothers were abducted and sold together. Now that the brother has found it, the suspect also has a clue, and once he is arrested, the whereabouts of the younger brother will also be traced.
The Xianyang police immediately joined forces with the Gongyi police in Henan to take action, and the abduction of the brothers who had been silent for 28 years finally came to light.
On June 17, after two days of squatting, the police arrested the criminal suspect Sun Mou.
Police: So who did you give this child to?
Suspect Sun: To Zhou.
Police: Sent for free?
Criminal suspect Sun Mou: Did not say that it was sent in vain. Zhou Moumou has no boys, his mother and father said, when there are children who are found, find one for me, I have no boys. I went to that look and they said he wanted to. It was negotiated for 4,000 yuan.
Policeman: Who did you sell zhou's brother to?
Criminal suspect Sun X: Zhang X.
Police: Where are the people?
Suspect Sun: Zhang Zhuang.
Police: How much did you sell to Zhang Moumou?
Suspect Sun: 3000.
According to Sun's account, the police found Zhang Mou, who was suspected of being the youngest son of the Liu family, in Zhengzhou, Henan, and Zhang Mou had no knowledge of his own origins.
Ma Fei, a police officer of the criminal police brigade of the Wugong County Public Security Bureau in Xianyang City: When the second son was abducted and sold, he was relatively young, and he did not have any impression of his childhood, which was psychologically difficult to accept. The two children were sold to two neighboring towns where they (had) attended the same school, but were unsure of their blood ties or brothers.
After DNA comparison, Zhang Mou is indeed Liu Jianhua's younger son.
Police: Two brothers in one city and two towns, the difference between the two people is only a few kilometers, may have seen before, do not recognize each other, you say this is not a human tragedy?
Suspect Sun Moumou: Yes (nod).
Reunion Action Helps "No Abduction in the World"
Liu Jianhua and his wife chose to divorce because their children were lost. Such a situation is not an isolated case, the child is lost, the family is broken, in fact, let us feel more, for parents, this is a heavy blow.
Just a few days ago, on July 11, Guo Gangtang, the prototype of the protagonist in the movie "Lost Alone" starring Andy Lau, also met and recognized his son who had been abducted for 24 years. This scene of acknowledging relatives makes people excited and excited; at the same time, it also makes people feel heart-wrenching and crying. This year, more than 1,200 cases have been organized in various places.
The reason why more than 1,200 family recognitions have been organized this year is because in January this year, the Ministry of Public Security launched the "reunion operation". So far, The "Reunion Operation" has recovered 2,609 abducted children who have disappeared over the years, including the children of Liu Jianhua and Guo Gangtang. The largest time span of the 2,609 children recovered was 61 years; at the same time, the public security organs detected 147 backlogs of child abduction and trafficking, and arrested 372 suspects of abduction and trafficking.
The ability to reunite so many families relies on the efforts of the public security organs and the help of the technology of "DNA comparison". On June 1 this year, the Ministry of Public Security released the addresses of more than 3,000 free blood collection points for the "reunion" operation across the country. Up to now, nearly 10,000 people have taken the initiative to go to the public security organs to receive free blood collection, and 306 families have been helped to achieve reunion. Here we also remind everyone: if you or you have parents of missing abducted children, suspected abductees and unidentified persons, you can register and collect blood at the nearest public security organ's free blood collection point.
At the same time, in recent years, with the joint efforts of public security organs across the country, the number of child abduction crimes has dropped sharply, of which the number of cases of child theft and robbery that has attracted much attention has dropped to about 20 a year, and these cases have basically achieved rapid detection and cracking. With more and more family reunions, the "no abduction in the world" that all parents are looking forward to will eventually be realized.
