PowerChina and the Nepalese government reached a US$2 billion cooperation intention for hydropower projects

On the 13th, the Investment Commission of the Government of Nepal (IBN) officially issued a bid award letter for the Tamor water storage hydropower station to the consortium composed of China Power Construction Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as China Power Construction Group) and the Nepal state-owned enterprise Nepal Hydropower Investment and Development Corporation (HIDCL).

On the same day, witnessed by Balsha Man Purn, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Nepal, Pan Dengyu, deputy general manager of China Power Construction's Eurasian region, and Bokkrell, general manager of Nepal Hydropower Investment and Development Corporation, signed a memorandum of cooperation on the development of Tamo hydroelectric hydropower station. The hydropower station has an installed capacity of 756 MW.

At the same time, China Power Construction also signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Nepal Hydropower Investment and Development Corporation for the Maadi Water Storage Hydropower Station. The hydropower station has an installed capacity of 156 MW.

The total amount of the above two cooperation projects is 2 billion US dollars.

Pan Dengyu said that the development prospects of infrastructure construction and energy cooperation between the two countries are good. We are willing to further strengthen cooperation with nepal to provide electricity and energy guarantee for Nepal's economic and social development.

China Power Construction is implementing 12 projects in Nepal, including the Upper Tamacsi Hydropower Station Project, the Upper Bodicxi Hydropower Station Restoration Project, the Tana Lake Water Storage Hydropower Station Project and the Miramarmuqi Water Diversion Project, and the implementation is in good condition.
