Zhengding Tianning Temple, formerly known as Dazangyuan, was built at the same time as Lingxiao Pagoda during the reign of Emperor Weitong of Tang Yizong (860-874 AD). At that time, the scale of the temple was grand and magnificent, and the main buildings such as the archway, the heavy gate, the Hall of the Heavenly King, the front hall, the apse hall, and the Lingxiao Pagoda were arranged from south to north. Now it is a national key cultural relics protection unit.

The Chengling Pagoda in the temple is the stupa of Yi Xuan, the founder of the Linji Sect, which was originally built in Tang Dynasty, and is an octagonal nine-level eaves pagoda with a height of 30.47 meters. The shape of the ancient pagoda is tall and beautiful, the carving is gorgeous, and Mr. Liang Sicheng praised it as "clear and beautiful, the top of the tower". In 2001, the Chengling Pagoda was declared a national treasure.
