On February 9, the China Meteorological Administration held a February press conference. According to reports, in 2020, there were 37 regional heavy rain weather processes across the country, with a high degree of overlap in the rainy areas during the flood season, and the most serious flood situation since 1998 occurred in the southern region in summer. In response to the "Daily Economic News" reporter's question about the causes of the serious flood situation, Song Lianchun, director of the National Climate Center, said that the weather and climate in China during the flood season in 2020 are extremely abnormal, with abnormal precipitation, many heavy precipitation processes, and prominent extremes. The factors affecting China's climate are more complex, in addition to being affected by the northwest Pacific, the Middle East Pacific and the Indian Ocean, but also by the snow on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Arctic, and Eurasia. For example, the unusually high amount of snow on the Tibetan Plateau in winter (the second largest in history since 1981) has caused the impact of weak summer winds in East Asia.
