In order to comprehensively and systematically display the achievements of Chinese paintings in Different Periods of Shaanxi since the founding of New China and highlight the style and charm of Shaanxi's painting world, after more than two years of meticulous preparation, the "Out of Chang'an - Shaanxi Chinese Paintings Touring Exhibition" sponsored by the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and undertaken by the Shaanxi Provincial Museum of Fine Arts was exhibited at the Shaanxi Provincial Art Museum from December 18, 2021 to February 20, 2022.
The exhibition content is divided into three sections: "60 Years of Starting from the Chang'an School", "This Yellow Land, That Mountain, That Water, and That Flower", "Everywhere There Is Life, Dreams Reflect Reality", including more than 100 masterpieces and related documents by Zhao Wangyun, Shi Lu, He Haixia, Fang Jizhong, Kang Shiyao, Li Zisheng, and 32 old, middle-aged and young painters in the Shaanxi Chinese painting world.
In October 1961, Shi Lu and his party exhibited in Beijing with the Xi'an Artists Association's study exhibition, which caused a sensation, and the "Chang'an School" was born, breaking the silence of the Chang'an painting world for hundreds of years and opening a brilliant new chapter.

In the 1980s, in the new creative journey, the Shaanxi painter group was inspired by the innovative spirit of the "Chang'an School" and guided by the creative purpose, excavated innovative resources in the re-search for tradition, sought new creative opportunities in vivid and vivid real life, and created a number of influential works in the country with a cold vision and realistic expression techniques.

After experiencing the baptism of modern art trends, the creation of Shaanxi painters in the new era is more free and frank, and their expression gradually changes from reproduction to performance, showing a variety of states and faces in creation. In the long journey of adhering to ideals, inheriting traditions, and looking back at the hometown, Shaanxi's artistic creation has entered a modern context. The diversified modern creative concepts such as realism, neorealism, local expression, and large freehand are displayed through different forms of works, realizing from cultural thinking to artistic philosophy, from the exploration of aesthetic interest to the transformation of language forms, and the Shaanxi artists in this period have formed their own unique self-style.

From 2020 to 2021, the Shaanxi Provincial Museum of Fine Arts has completed the "Twelve Works of Chinese Paintings in Chang'an - Shaanxi Painting Exhibition" and "Back to Chang'an - Selected Exhibition of Shaanxi Works collected by the National Art Museum of China". The "Out of Chang'an - Shaanxi Chinese Painting Works Touring Exhibition" is on the cornerstone of the artistic achievements of the "Chang'an School" in the past 60 years, through the systematic combing and integration of outstanding Chinese painting works in Shaanxi in different periods since the founding of New China, going out of Shaanxi, showing the artistic masterpieces and exploration achievements of the Shaanxi painting circle to the national audience, not only looking back and displaying the history of Shaanxi Chinese painting, but also looking forward to the future, raising the flag forward, in thinking and enlightenment, looking forward to new development opportunities, and then innovating brilliantly.
