Editor's note: Friends who are familiar with "Three Kingdoms Matchless", presumably they are not unfamiliar with the task of attacking "so-and-so", and players need to manipulate the character to attack the army and break the enemy army to complete the task. Historically, did this "hammer" really exist? In "Three Kingdoms Matchless", whether there is any restoration of the historical "Zhao" ????? In ancient China, the "Zhao" was actually a military village, a place where the army was stationed, but it was different. In ancient times, the garrison of the army was called "lower camp", and the camp in the short-term march and the village during the long-term garrison actually belonged to this category. In the game of "Three Kingdoms", there are indeed some settings that are similar to those in history, but there are many places that deviate from real history for the sake of gameplay.

The Song Dynasty soldier book "General Outline of the Martial Classics" records that the method of camping that can be used when the army goes out to march or is stationed in other places is roughly divided into nine types, and when stationing for a long time, it is necessary to choose from the firewood camp method and excavation method according to the local terrain. Choose one of the five lower camp methods, such as camp method, city building camp method, wooden fence camp method, and rope camp method, and choose from four kinds of short-term stationing, such as standing gun, chestnut gun, car camp, and horse refusal. Judging from the arrangement in "Three Kingdoms Matchless", most of the "Bricks" in it are surrounded by wooden fences, is it to follow the "Wooden Fence Camp Law"? That's not all.

As far as the situation of the Song Dynasty is concerned, the location of military camps generally needs to be far away from people, and "soldiers are not mixed with the people, so they are strictly armed" ("Song Pingjiang Chengfang Examination"), which means that in order for these soldiers to have a better sense of combat readiness and be able to receive more concentrated military training, it is necessary to isolate soldiers from the people, and to a certain extent, to prevent the enemy from spying on military intelligence. In addition to military rules and discipline, in the construction of the camp, it is also necessary to pay attention to "the camp fence to settle its place." One is to rebuke them for teaching and reading so as not to be afraid; the other is not to scatter with the civilians, and it is easy to guard against them" (Song Hui Zhi Bing 6-29). This also means that regardless of whether the "wooden fence camp method" is chosen or not, the outer perimeter of the military camp must actually be built to isolate the ordinary people. At this point, the clue seems to be broken?

Don't worry, the wooden fence camp method requires the wooden fence to be "high in all directions, buried deeply as you want, repeated by the wooden roots, and sewn in its gaps", not only requiring the wooden fence to be tightly sewn, but also to dig a trench outside the fence that is two inches wide and one inch deep. In the wooden fence, a battle tower is built every hundred steps, and the watchtower is placed in the middle to visit from a distance. It can be seen that compared with the isolation measures, the wooden fence camp method has higher requirements for the wooden fence, and it is also necessary to dig a deep trench to prevent the enemy from attacking, which is quite necessary for the camp. Not only that, the Wooden Gate Battalion belongs to the relatively temporary encampment method of "being forced by the enemy to build a fortress" in all kinds of camps, and if the terrain allows and there is plenty of time, the army is more likely to choose other encampment methods.

For example, the trench digging camp method and the city-building camp method have the requirement of digging trenches, but the trench camp method also requires the excavation of some trap horse pits, and the arrangement of antler guns in the trenches, and the use of pontoon bridges when passing inside and outside; and the city-building camp method, as its name suggests, requires the construction of low walls for defense, of which "the height of the city is five feet, eight feet wide; the female wall is four feet high and two feet wide", standing wooden fences, digging horse pits, and in addition to the battle buildings in the wooden fence camp method, flails and wind cannons are also arranged, which are much more complex than the structure of the wooden fence camp method. The wooden gate camp method and the firewood camp method are almost the two simplest of all camp methods.

Judging from the "Zhao" in "Three Kingdoms Matchless", it generally belongs to the wooden structure, but sometimes it is not even high enough, wooden fence, and trenches are even rarer. As in the picture above, the wooden fence is sparse and the height is not enough, which can only block the players and NPCs blocked by the code, but in fact, on the real battlefield, the wooden fence will be broken almost instantaneously without any defensive significance. Even in some settings, the army stationed in the local area for a long time still uses this extremely simple fence, which can only be said to be a compromise on gameplay.

Not only that, but of course the camp must be close to the water source, otherwise how can the thousands of people in the army ensure the supply of drinking water? There are many provisions on this in the "General Outline of the Martial Classics", and even write some ways to find water sources, all to solve the problem of drinking water. And in order to prevent the impact of floods on the barracks, but also to facilitate the observation of enemy movements, the camp site is generally high. In order to strengthen the management of soldiers, there are generally strict time regulations for entering and leaving the camp, such as the forbidden army of the Song Dynasty, which is generally not allowed to go out of the barracks after the unitary hour (7 pm).

Of course, since soldiers are to live in camps, their shelter is also an aspect that needs to be considered. The kind of tent in "Three Kingdoms" is not exactly a reality, it depends on whether the army is stationed in the local area. The march naturally does not mention, everything is simple, the Song Dynasty set up camps are generally ten people per shop ("General Outline of the Martial Classics"),but if there is an army stationed in the local area or more fighting, then it is necessary to build some barracks for soldiers to live for a long time.

Until the promotion of the professional military system in the middle and late Tang Dynasty, the architectural requirements for the garrison houses also increased, not only to accommodate soldiers, but also to give soldiers' families and entourage a place of resettlement. Of course, the construction of qualified barracks is not small, such as when Han Shizhong's department built barracks during the Southern Song Dynasty, "each expenditure is four consecutive" ("Song Huihui Draft"), and generally one person and one room are maintained. Whether it is temporary or fixed barracks, the demand is very high. Although the Song dynasty government had money in name, the barracks were not necessarily affordable, and it was often the case that soldiers had no barracks to live in during the Song Dynasty. During the Three Kingdoms period, the army was still mobilized from the local townships, and the financial revenue was seriously insufficient, and the living conditions of soldiers were difficult to guarantee.

However, the camp also needs to be arranged according to a certain formation, such as Zhuge Liang's eight arrays, "In the Gaoping old stronghold of Qiuyang, there are six of the two hundred and fifty, and the lower camp method is also", "In the words of the Tun camp, then the twenty-four formations are all in the middle of the base, so the eight arrays of Qiuyang are round inside and outside" (Wuhou Quanshu). The army's requirements for the array when camping are relatively strict, paying attention to "the method of establishing a camp and the method of warfare are the same" ("General Outline of the Martial Economy"), requiring all-night preparations, and the layout of the camp must not only be consistent with the organization of the army, but also be able to quickly form a formation.
