"For some people, fashion is an expression of their aesthetic. You can buy it, and you can show your beauty like a work of art. - Jongwhan Baek, Principal Director of WGNB
Perceptions of clothes vary from person to person. Some will see clothes as an "outer layer" that envelops the body, while others will fill an entire room with clothes, "gathering" like a collection without wearing them. For them, clothing is not just a functional element, but a tool for expressing personality or social roles.
Nowadays, how every fashion brand runs its business has become as important as the appearance of every piece of clothing. The BOON The Shop Centum City update began with "Can't Clothing Stores Be Galleries?" "This question.
The space consists of clear glass and concrete with a rough texture (scraped off). The material palette inspires contracts by mixing and matching rugged and minimalist aesthetics. While the use of clear glass in walls and partitions opens up stores visually, these glasses also have a structural function.
We pursued the "collapse of the formula", replacing the hangers of ordinary clothing stores with simple steel frames derived from gallery photo frames. So, without clothes and hangers, the space might not be recognized as a clothing store because it looks more like an art gallery.
For the shoe display at the entrance, we use layered glass as structural pillars to support the shoe display stand module. In this way, the view from the façade appears to be transparent, while the shoes appear to float in the air.
We then introduce two natural objects that subtly stand out from space. Slate and maple trees are displayed in the frame like works of art, adding warmth to the space that almost looks cold. The juxtaposition of natural and man-made materials creates a supernatural feel.
We hope that visitors will be aware that fashion is an art when they leave the store, and they have just visited a gallery of contemporary philosophies and statements.
