By the Qianlong era, the Sulu kingdom was gradually encroached upon by Spain, so the king at this time thought of the suzerainty of the Great Qing and wanted the Great Qing to protect himself, so the king decided to incorporate his own land and Dinghu into the Chinese territory, that is to say, to add all the land to China. At that time, Qianlong refused. Mainly on the one hand, the country of Sulu was too far away, and at that time the Qing Dynasty implemented a closed country, so it was useless to ask for this land and could not be managed; on the other hand, accepting the land meant going to war with Spain, which was very uneconomical for the Qing Dynasty, which was closed to the country at that time.
Therefore, Qianlong did not hesitate to refuse, "Saying that you are already our vassal state, just like ours, there is no need to add red tape." After 200 years, it became the Philippines, and in the 1960s and 1970s, the Philippines developed rapidly, surpassing Japan at that time and becoming the richest country in Asia.
