According to the news of Titanium Media on December 15, Google announced today that it has submitted a proposal to the French antitrust regulatory authorities, hoping to resolve the dispute between the company and French news agencies and publishers in terms of paying for news content.

The French Competition Authority (FCA) said in a statement that the recommendations will be consulted from the public and that parties involved must respond by January 31, 2022.

For years, news agencies' advertising revenues have been eroded by news aggregators like Google and Facebook. They complain that these tech companies use their content in search results or other features without paying royalties.

Google, on the other hand, believes that its news search service provides only a very small part of the entire news, and interested readers will still click on the link to enter the original page, which will bring traffic to the news publisher.
