Onana: Professional players don't have the power to make mistakes, and they advise everyone to take responsibility for their own body

Live Bar Dec. 15 - After nine months of being banned for taking banned drugs, Onana recently returned to the pitch. In an interview with Marca, he said he was banned for taking drugs by mistake and that players were responsible for their bodies.

On 13 November, during cameroon's match against Malawi, Onana returned to the pitch after a nine-month absence. Previously, Onana was banned for 12 months for doping, after which it was reduced to 9 months. On 24 November, against Besiktas in the Champions League, Onana re-represented Ajax.

In October 2020, after a match against Atlanta, Onana took the wrong medication for a headache. "I went to take prescription drugs (Litacol) but my wife who had just given birth had a similar pill (Lasimac) and I accidentally took my wife's medication. A month later, when I was told at the Cameroon national team that I had a positive urine test, I said to the doctor, 'You must be mistaken, I have experienced more than 23 urine tests in my career.' ”

Because of a stupid mistake, Onana was in great trouble. "UEFA admits it was an unintentional mistake and that the medicine does not improve the performance of the players. I'm excited to be back and I want to warn those top players to be careful because mistakes are not accepted in our work. You're responsible for everything in your body, and when you drink contaminated water, that's your fault. It's hard, but the rules are like that and I have to accept the penalty. ”

During the nine-month suspension, Onana's daily routine was completely disrupted. "I can't train with any qualified coach, I have to learn to survive and train on my own, I need to put together a strong team of 17 people to complete goalkeeper training, it's not easy, but thank God and the team members, we did it."

"It's amazing how a 40-milligram pill can ruin your life, ruin your career, and ruin your image. I thought, 'How can I tell my parents that they test positive for drugs and that I've never smoked or drunk alcohol in my life.' People talk about stimulants, but I insist I'm taking a pill that keeps you hydrated. I saw everything in the media and I thought, 'Am I going to be an addict?' I learned from that and it made me stronger. You realize that there is no humanity in the world of football, we are like robots, without the right to make mistakes. ”
