1. What is senile deafness?
With age, binaural hearing declines progressively, and neurogenic deafness dominated by high-frequency hearing loss is called senile deafness, which is mainly due to auditory dysfunction caused by aging of the auditory system. Because the pathogenesis of senile deafness has not been clearly studied, drug and surgical treatment is not mature. Commonly used clinical treatments are hearing aids and cochlear implants.

Grading criteria for hearing loss
1. Mild hearing loss with an average hearing threshold of 26-40 dBHL, it is recommended to consider wearing a hearing aid; moderate hearing loss with an average hearing threshold of 41-60 dBHL should wear a hearing aid in time.
2. For severe or severe hearing loss in both ears and unsatisfactory speech recognition, cochlear implant surgery may be considered.
