In the men's World Tour, 18 teams were identified in the sport's top league, with only South Africa-registered Qhubeka-NextHash not being able to continue due to financial and sponsorship issues, so UCI denied the Kube Trucks' 2022 World Tour license.

Three professional teams will automatically qualify as wild truck teams for all World Tour invitations in 2022. Among them, Alpecin-Fenix and Arkéa-Samsic, the top two points players of the 2021 season, each received a wild card and were invited to all 2022 UCI WorldTour events. That means fans who love Nairo Quintana will continue to see him in the 2022 season.

Peter Sagan's Team Total Energies, the third-place team in the points, will automatically receive an invitation to all 2022 one-day World Tour races as wild truck teams.
