It has been rumored that NetherRealm Studios will announce the next work of Mortal Kombat at this year's TGA, and the studio will prioritize the development of Mortal Kombat 12 rather than the Injustice League of DC SuperHeal series. But apparently this is not officially recognized.
On Twitter, Ed Boon, co-creator of the series and creative director of NetherRealm, gave some explanations about this. In response to a user's inquiry about plans for the next production, Boon responded: "Thank you very much for your enthusiasm for the next work and hope that we are ready to announce it, but unfortunately we have not yet." There are far more variables involved than we are allowed to disclose. He didn't directly acknowledge that Mortal Kombat 12 would be the studio's next game.
These variables may be anyone's guess, but the simplest answer is that the item is not in presentation. Due to problems such as working from home, there may be delays in ticket jumping. Whatever the reason, it's unlikely we'll hear about Mortal Kombat 12 any time soon.
