Wuhan, December 12 (China News Service) -- The 2021 China-Africa Innovation Cooperation Conference, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and the Hubei Provincial Government, opened in Wuhan on the 12th. Academicians and experts from domestic universities and scientific research institutes, as well as representatives of more than 20 African countries such as Kenya, South Africa, Senegal, Gabon, Benin, Tanzania, Mali, etc., and some African youth and researchers in Wuhan attended the meeting.
With the theme of "A New Chapter in the Spectrum of Innovation and Cooperation to Win the Future Hand in Hand", the conference strengthened international scientific and technological exchanges with Africa and countries and regions along the "Belt and Road", shared development opportunities, and promoted the construction of a closer China-Africa community of common destiny.
Hubei's cooperation with Africa started early and has a wide range of fields, and the cooperation and exchanges in the fields of science and technology, production capacity and humanities have yielded fruitful results. At the opening ceremony, 15 international scientific and technological cooperation projects were signed to Africa, involving a number of African countries, including agriculture, biology and other fields. The cooperation project adopts various forms of cooperation such as platform co-construction, technology research and development, achievement transformation, and talent training, and promotes the convergence and integration of international innovation resources in Africa.
In order to serve China-Africa scientific and technological innovation cooperation, production capacity upgrading investment, and youth talent exchange, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China approved Hubei in May 2020 to take the lead in building a national international regional innovation cooperation platform - China-Africa Innovation Cooperation Center. The secretariat of the China-Africa Innovation Cooperation Center is located in Wuhan, and is led by the Hubei Provincial Department of Science and Technology. According to the relevant plan of Hubei to promote international scientific and technological cooperation, the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Department organized relevant expert demonstrations in the field of international scientific and technological cooperation, and determined the first batch of layout and construction of 5 Hubei International Science and Technology Cooperation (International Technology Transfer) Offshore Centers in African countries as sub-centers of China-Africa Innovation Cooperation Center.
The opening ceremony set up an exhibition of China-Africa innovation cooperation achievements, which was divided into health and health, poverty alleviation and agriculture, energy and transportation, digital innovation, people-to-people exchanges, industrial manufacturing and other sections, through physical objects, pictures, texts and videos, to show the major achievements of China-Africa scientific and technological innovation cooperation in recent years, and the major achievements of Hubei in promoting international scientific and technological cooperation and open innovation.
During the conference, a series of activities will also be held, such as the China-Africa Innovation Cooperation Forum, the Jing Chuxing of Scientific and Technological Innovation for African Diplomats in China, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Salon for Young African Talents, and the China Hubei-Africa Economic and Trade Science and Technology Cooperation Fair.
