What is Wenchang Ancestral Court?
The so-called Wenchang Ancestral Garden is the first temple of the Wenchang Emperor, which means that the temple was first built to worship Wenchang, and is the root and birthplace of Wenchang culture. Why is the Qiqu Mountain Grand Temple in Zitong County called Wenchang Ancestral Garden?
Zitong Qiqushan Grand Temple is the earliest Wenchang Temple. "Guangbo Wuzhi", "Huayang Guozhi" and other ancient books, Wenchang worship began with the worship of natural gods such as thunder god, tree god, etc., in the dayu, the ancient ancestors thought that the catalpa tree became a god, so they built a temple sacrifice on the Qiqu Mountain, and later, from Qin to Tang gradually evolved into a special temple dedicated to The Wenchang Emperor, "Evil Temple", "Shanban Temple", "Yazi Temple", "Thunder Temple", after the Tang and Song Dynasties, due to the general belief of the people and the imperial edict, hundreds of Wenchang Palace views were gradually built throughout the country and overseas. However, at least before the Jin Dynasty, the wenchang emperor's special temple was only one zitong qiqu mountain.
Judging from the history books, Wenchang originated in Zitong and is inextricably linked to the Great Temple of Qiqu Mountain, whose temple should be the ancestral court. As far as the origin of Wenchang is concerned, the Tang and Song dynasties were previously only star gods, not personality gods, called Wenchang xing, Wenqu xing, Zi Tong xingjun, etc., so the "Book of History and Tianguan" contains "Dou Kui Dai Kuang six stars, known as Wen Chang xing". Ming Shi Li Zhi IV: "Emperor Zi Tong, Ji Yun: 'The god surnamed Zhang Ming Yazi, Ju Shu Qiqu Mountain, Shi Jin was martyred, and man built a temple.'" Here the relationship between the three gods of Zi Tong, Zhang Yazi, and qiqu Mountain Was clarified, and then successive emperors have posthumously sealed the god of Zi Tong, and until Emperor Yuanrenzong Yanyou three years later, he named the god of Zi Tong zhang Yazi as "Emperor Hongren of Fuyuan Kaihua Wenchang Silu Hongren", at this point, the star gods and gods were united, and Emperor Wenchang became the cultural god of the Chinese nation who was in charge of Wenyun Lu.
Official propaganda and folk beliefs generally believe that Zitong is the birthplace of Wenchang culture, and the Qiqu Mountain Grand Temple is the ancestral court.
First, a large number of books or texts or prologues, such as the Biography of Emperor Wenchang, the Immortal Classic of Wenchang Dadong, the Classic of Filial Piety of Wenchang, the Classic of Wenchang Zhongjing, the Biography of Qing Hanoi, and the Book of Emperor Wenchang's Transformation, have direct and indirect reflections.
Second, official books such as the Benji of the King of Shu, the Book of Jin, the Astronomical Chronicle, and the Xianfeng County Chronicle are all recorded; Emperor Taiwu of northern Wei, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Emperor Zhenzong of Song, Emperor Guangzong of Song, Emperor Lizong of Song, and Emperor Renzong of Yuanren all had edicts on Wenchang, the great temple of Qiqu Mountain. In the tenth year (1140) of Emperor Gaozong of Song Dynasty, Emperor Gaozong of Song issued an edict that the Qiqushan Grand Temple should be rebuilt according to the pattern of the royal palace, and given the name Lingying Ancestral Hall, and in the sixth year of Qingren Chongjiaqing (1801), the Qiqushan Grand Temple Wenchang Chongqi was included in the national ceremony, and the Qing wenzong Xianfeng sixth year (1856) was promoted to the Middle Temple.
Third, the Wenchang beliefs of the people from the Song Dynasty to the Ming and Qing dynasties became more and more extensive, and many places outside Sichuan and its province came to the Wenchang Ancestral Court of the Qiqu Mountain Grand Temple to pay homage to and study, and thousands of Wenchang Palace Shrines were gradually built across the country, and more than 470 have been preserved so far. In recent years, Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries have come to worship, and the Qiqu Mountain Grand Temple has been called "Zuting" or "Ancestral Temple" by overseas good men and women.
The Qiqu Mountain Grand Temple is the only Wenchang "ancestral court" and is widely recognized by the academic community. Since the 1980s, scholars from Japan, the United States, South Korea, Germany, and Singapore have successively visited Wenchang Zuting in Qiqu Mountain, and dozens of scholars from Fu Jen University and other universities in Taiwan, taiwan and mainland China have also visited Zitong and Damiao; in recent years, Wenchang Zuting has held several international, cross-strait and domestic academic seminars, and has achieved a number of academic achievements and published a number of academic papers on Wenchang culture. Whether it is an individual or an academic discussion, it is unanimously agreed that Zitong is the birthplace of Wenchang culture, the Qiqu Mountain Grand Temple is the Wenchang ancestral court, which is unique and irreplaceable, and there is no place at home and abroad to compete for the status of Wenchang ancestral court.
