Cao Yan is located in The Former Pu Village, Shan Qian She, and is now divided into two rooms, the mountain and the bottom of the mountain, the Cao Yan Temple under the mountain was originally dedicated to Marshal Xie Xuan's "Mountain Front Temple".
In 1995, the donated stone stele of Cao Yan was rebuilt.

The introduction of "Cao Yan" on the wall is said to have been built in the third year of the Tang Dynasty (827) and was the residence of Guanghui (Hui) ancestors. Grandmaster Guanghui was the brother of Grandmaster Guangji of Sanping Temple. The Pinghe Literature and History Materials say that it was built in the second year of Tang Dahe (828). Grandmaster Guangji was a master of Zen Buddhism, and his brother Guanghui Zen master was naturally also a Zen master. Referring to the origin of the name "Cao Shan" in the ancestral court of the Zen "Cao Dong Sect", it can be seen that "Cao Yan" should also be named after "Cao Xi". Ming Yi Tongzhi Vol. 54 FuzhouFu: Cao Shan "Thirty miles north of Yihuang County. Formerly known as Heyu Mountain, the peak of the mountain is Luohan Peak. The Former Zen Master returned here because of the ritual of the six ancestors of Cao Xi, so he changed his name to Cao Shan.
The stolen stone sutra "Four-Faced Buddha" on The Caoyan Mountain Road was recovered and preserved in the Mountain Front Nunnery. According to experts, it is a Tang Dynasty stone carving, which is a third-class cultural relic, which can support the legend that Cao Yan was built in the Tang Dynasty.

Set off for CaoYan, there are Caoyan mountain gates in the valley, which are two huge stones with "stone gates" carved into them.
There are several speculations about the word "stone gate". The first is to use a pair of "stone gate" boulders as the CaoYan Mountain Gate. The second type, the Cao Yan Zen Method, comes out of the Shimen Mountain Dharma Vein. Shimen Mountain is home to a pagoda in Matsu Road. The masters of Sanping Yizhong Zen Master Baiyan Huaihui (756-816), Xitang Zhizang (735-814), Baizhang Huaihai (720-814), and Shi Gonghuizang were all under the Matsu Dao. I don't know which disciple Guanghui Zen Master is. I think the probability of Zen master Baizhang Huaihai is the highest. After the death of Matsu Dao, Huaihai Zen Master once lived in Shimen to promote the Dharma, and Huaihai Zen Master had a story about "taro".
Zen master Huaihai learned the spirit of Matsu Daoyi to build a jungle in the barren mountains and practiced in The Baizhang Mountain. A thief patronized and was touched by Huaihai, who said, "You may be hungry, I still have half a taro here, you can take it and eat it." The thief said ashamedly, "I don't eat, I'm not hungry." Huai Hai said, "You may be cold and want to find a dress to keep out the cold, so take my dress with you." After saying that, Huaihai took off his clothes and stuffed them for the thief, and the thief did not leave, stayed not, and stood awkwardly next to him. Huaihai sat naked on the stone, looked at a round of bright moon, and said, "If possible, I am willing to give you this round of moon." The thief's heart moved, as if a glimmer of crystal moonlight had shone into his heart, and he immediately knelt down and said, "Master, you accept me, and I will go to meditation with you from now on." Huaihai then accepted him as his first apprentice, perhaps he was the later Guanghui Zen master.

Moving forward to the valley, a huge stone on the side of the mountain road is engraved with the "Xian duan Cao Yan Mountain Road", and the payment is "Forty-two Years of the Wanli Calendar".
Turning into the second section of the valley, there are stone carvings "Forgotten Return Stone" and "Nam no Amitabha Buddha". Amitabha Buddha is in the "world of Elysium" and therefore "does not think of returning home."
The second stone carving is "Broad Long Tongue". The broad tongue is the "tongue of the Buddha", and the metaphor is "able to speak eloquently".
Stepping out of this valley, just entering the third section of the valley, you can see the ruins and fragments of the scriptures.
At the foot of Caoyan Mountain, there is a "rice stone", and only the word "stone" can be recognized.

Stone carved "Yuangongtai". Yuangong (遠公) is the "honorific title" of Hui Yuan, a famous monk of Shandong Lin Temple in lushan in the Jin Dynasty. Huiyuan was the first ancestor of the Pure Land Sect of Chinese Buddhism. Hui Yuan once recited the "Sea Dragon King Sutra" and led the giant snake to rain, so his essence was called "Dragon Spring". Huiyuan also has a tiger as a companion, leaving an allusion to "Tiger Creek Three Laughs".

The hill opposite Cao Yan has the word "Shou".
The huge word "shou" refers to "immeasurable life". Above the Shou characters there are stone carvings of "Buddha" and "Western Victory". Above the Western Resort there is a stone carving of "Deep in Gayalen". Cao Yan's stone carvings reflect more of the content of the "Pure Land Sect". The Pure Land Sect of Chinese Buddhism is completely the Western Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha as a special practice. Amitabha Buddha is also known as the "Infinite Life Buddha". The Pure Land Sect, founded in the Tang Dynasty, was named after the sect's belief that by concentrating on the name "Amitabha Buddha", one can "reincarnate" the Western "Pure Land" (Elysium). Because Hui Yuan (334-416), a senior monk of the Eastern Jin Dynasty who was revered as the first ancestor by the descendants of the Pure Land Sect, had formed a lotus society with the eighteen high sages in Lushan and practiced purification together, it was also known as the Lotus Sect. The actual founder of the Pure Land Sect was the Tang Dynasty Shandao (613-681). After the beginning of the Song Dynasty, many Zen scholars also promoted the Pure Land. Since the Song Dynasty, the Western Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha, who has passed away, is actually a belief shared by all sects, and is not a unique ideological content of a certain sect. At the same time, the Pure Land of the West is also one of the most popular Buddhist beliefs in ancient Chinese society.
The word "Shou" falls on the "Mountain Monk Mingli". I can't help but think of the Song Dynasty Qingshui Ancestor (1044-1110) master Dajingshan Ming Zen Master. From the remains of Shimizu Rock, we can know the Izumomon Sect. Judging by age, it is possible that the Zen master of Da Jing Shan Ming came from the dajue Huailian Guoshi (1007-1090). Dajue Huailian Guoshi was a high monk of the Yunmen Sect of Zhangzhou, and a state teacher of the Renzong Dynasty of the Song Dynasty. Qing Shui Ancestors, who traveled all over southern Fujian, may also have visited Cao Yan. Make subjective assumptions for the time being, and then examine them. Qing Shui Zushi and Dajue Huailian Guoshi were both descendants of the Chen clan in the Southern Courtyard of Zhangzhou.

The Golden Bridge boundary canal, the fences are intertwined, and the pavilions are very neat. Ask the boy, where is this, who is the secretary. Ao, Yu Ling and Mr. Waiter also. Ask, sir for whom. Oh, Brother Nakaro also. Now the fang junjun, with some words, can rush forward. Repeat the road to one place, more than ten trees, the pool water is gushing, and on the pool, there are white jade doors. A boy entered first, a boy led, more than twenty times through the pavilion, to the first floor. One person greets him, his face is like jade, his clothes are like clouds, and his length is Yu. See the Middle Way, Joy, Brother to the End. If you look at it, then the grand path is also. When I went upstairs to pay my respects, there were four or five people who came to sit together. Hongdao said, this western frontier is also, the faith is not solved, the precepts are not complete, many births. Also known as the Slow Country. Above there is the Buddha Tower. There is a large pond in front of it, which can be used for hundreds of years. There is a wonderful lotus, where all beings live. If they are born, they will scatter on the terrace and gather with their friends. With no obscene sound and beauty, victory is easy to become, and soon, he will become a person in the Pure Land. The middle way asked, where is the brother born. Hongdao said, although my pure wish is deep, the emotional stain has not been removed, and when I was born in this little, I now live in the Pure Land. In the end, he refrained from refraining, only dwelling on the ground, not being allowed to ascend to the Void Treasure Cabinet with the Great Master, and still needing to study the ear. Fortunately, Su Sheng's wisdom was fierce, and he once made a Western theory, admiring the incredible power of life, feeling that he could fly freely, swim in the brakes, and listen to the buddhas' sayings, which is really a victory. Then he ascended with the middle way, and suddenly went thousands of miles. To one place, the light shines without obstacles. Glass is the ground, the boundary is based on the Seven Treasure Trees, all of which are auspicious and auspicious, outstanding and wonderful, and different treasure colors. Below is the treasure pool, and the wave is immeasurable and natural. In the pool, there are many paulines, and the leaves are five-colored light. The hidden dangerous building on the pond is back, and the pavilion road is out. There are immeasurable instruments and various sounds. Hongdao Yue, the one who sees it, the Pure Land of all sentient beings depends on the retribution. After this, it is very wonderful to be the residence of the Dharma Master, ten million times this, and the divine power is also ten million times this, and I swim with wisdom and strength, and I cannot live in it. After this, I do not know that I am dwelling in the ten places and so on. After this, for the dwelling of the mysterious enlightenment, only the Buddha and the Buddha can know it. Words, back to one place. There are no walls, there are railings, and the light shines beyond the front. Sit down, the grand way, I don't want to enjoy it to this extreme. When I was born, I kept strict precepts, and there was more to it. Most of them are in a hurry, and the quality of life is the highest. The second emergency, the most stable life. If there is no precept, most of them are led by karma, flowing into the eight ghosts and gods, and giving more to those who see it. Brother Ban Ruo's qi is quite deep, and his concentration is very little. Fu Wuli can't be born with precepts, and crazy wisdom is also. Return to the five turbidities, take advantage of the strength, practice enlightenment, hold pure wishes at the same time, be diligent and convenient, have mercy on everything, and soon meet each other. As soon as you enter the other way, it is terrible and terrible. If you cannot take the vows, there is a Nagarjuna Six Fasts that exists and obeys them. The killing ring is particularly urgent. Send a message to the students, there is no Day Qi Luan knife, the mouth is greedy, and the person who can give birth to this earth is also. Although the fa is like a cloud like rain, what is beneficial? When I was robbed by the King of Rukong, the world was a brother, and even the Six Paths, it was the same. Fortunately, I have a good place, afraid of ru depravity, convenient for divine power, and regent ru to this point. The net filth is separated and must not be left for long. Shi Zongdao had died, because he asked where he was born. Hongdao knows that the place of birth is also good, and Ruhou knows himself. Suddenly, the tomb passed in the air. On the middle path starting pool, suddenly falling into the water, jumping awake, I remembered it.

Shi Zhihai was a native of Sandu, Haicheng County ,present-day Haicang District, Xiamen) in the Ming Dynasty. Originally named Round Sex, he called himself a monk of idleness. During the Jiajing period, when living in the Caoyan Mountains, it was common for white light lotuses not to be sacred, so they left this place, visited the Zen forest, studied the scriptures, and returned to Nanshan Temple more than ten years later. At Nanshan Temple, hundreds of followers preached the Lun Dao. At the age of eighty, he held the tin to see the clouds, and sang from the song: "Sneak in the green mountains to see the white cow, and travel from the east to the west, the south and the north", and the song also sat down.
