Only the blue-leaning websites and televisions of China Times, which have been "stuck" by Tsai Ing-wen, have been reporting and commenting on the "fake Doctor" scandal almost non-stop for a week, while other Taiwanese media outlets have almost completely "muted." Neither Tsai's office nor the DPP authorities responded. This is a bit of an anomaly.

Tsai Ing-wen has always claimed to be a Doctor of Laws degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science in the United Kingdom, researching the topic of "Unfair Trade Practices and Safeguards", and officially "obtained" a doctorate in 1984. According to normal procedures, Tsai Ing-wen's dissertation at the time of her doctorate in 1984, as an academic achievement, should be retained at her alma mater. But the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as the Union School of London, the University of London, three libraries, could not find her original papers. Only one she submitted in 2015.
Tsai Ing-wen later held a press conference specifically for this purpose, but what she showed her innocence was only a "manuscript of the paper" one by one, not the version of the doctoral dissertation that should have been signed by the oral examination committee.

Even more bizarre is the fourth point, in 1984, after Tsai Ing-wen graduated, under the "escort" of her father Tsai Jiesheng, a famous political financier in Taiwan, she became a "visiting associate professor" of Chengchi University. But for the first six years, Taiwan's education authorities kept asking for her doctorate to be validated. This is also extraordinary, and it is likely that suspicion was already aroused at the time.
