Hong Kong, December 5 (China News Service) -- Hong Kong police launched an anti-drug arrest operation on December 4, seizing about 36.2 kilograms of suspected heroin with a market value of more than 47 million yuan (HK$, the same below), and arresting a man, whose case will be brought before the Kowloon City Magistrates' Court on the 6th.

The Hong Kong police reported on the 5th that the personnel of the Narcotics Bureau of the Police recently discovered that some drug syndicates used the subdivided units of the factory building as a drug warehouse and distribution center. After an in-depth investigation, the police conducted an anti-drug arrest operation in Xinpugang in the early morning of December 4. During the operation, officers intercepted a suspicious 42-year-old man in a factory building on Wufang Street and arrested him for "trafficking in dangerous drugs" for a total of about 36.2 kilograms of suspected heroin, with a market value of more than $47 million, in his subdivided unit.

The police investigation found that in order to evade the pursuit of law enforcement officers, the drug syndicate tried to use handbags as a disguise to flow a large number of drugs into the market in batches. Police said the case was still under active investigation and did not rule out more arrests.

The police reminded that "trafficking in dangerous drugs" is a serious crime and, on conviction, can be punished with a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million. (End)
