Guardiola's side started quickly, with striker Raheem Sterling scoring in the 4th minute, Phil Foden's cross and Sterling's header. First-half midfielder Bernardo Silva's shot surpassed goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann, extending City's lead even further.

Silva scored again in the second half – his sixth in eight Premier League games this season – and an arcing shot from 18 yards into the far corner.

In City's 3-1 win over Watford on Saturday, Silva scored two goals. Watford striker Cucho Hernandez pulled a goal back in the 74th minute to break through Goalkeeper Ederson, but that wasn't enough to stop City from winning easily.

Guardiola said: "We always need to improve, but right now, the level of the players is really good." 'We scored three beautiful goals and we could have scored more.

Saturday's result means City overtook Chelsea, who lost 3-2 away to West Ham, with Guardiola's side racking up 35 points after 15 games. Earlier on Saturday, Liverpool beat Wolves in a last-minute victory to finish second with a one-point margin.

Watford head coach Claudio Ranieri has won eight of his nine games against Manchester City in his career and is now 17th in the relegation zone with a three-point advantage.
