Yonhap News Agency reported on December 3 that in order to block the continued flow of the "Omicron" variant into the territory, the South Korean government has taken quarantine measures for all people entering the country from the 3rd. All persons entering the country within two weeks from 0:00 on the 3rd to 24:00 on the 16th, regardless of nationality and vaccination, must be quarantined for 10 days.
Korean and long-term resident foreign arrivals are required to stay at home, and short-term resident foreign arrivals are quarantined in temporary living facilities arranged by the government. Persons in home isolation shall receive one new coronavirus nucleic acid test before entry, the day after entry, and before the lifting of isolation, and those in fixed-point isolation shall undergo one more test on the sixth day of entry.
Previously, the South Korean government exempted vaccinated people who entered the country for commercial, academic, public welfare, and official purposes from the time of entry, and from that day onwards, the quarantine exemption was limited to corporate executives, athletes participating in Olympic games, and senior civil servants. Bereavement entrants are still exempt from quarantine, but the period of stay has been shortened from 14 days to 7 days.
